POCKET POWER SILKS WINNER ANNOUNCED

A Johannesburg Engineer with a big passion for racing, was announced as the winner of the coveted framed silks of Pocket Power.

As judged by the Mike Bass Racing team, the lucky winner was ecstatic with his win and even thought that it was radio DJ's joke when he was called and announced as the winner.

The talented winner, Russell Dewee (far right) who wrote a wonderful tribute to the champion horse, was presented with the silks at Greyville on Canon Gold Cup Day in full view of the Tellytrack cameras and on course crowd by none other than Pocket Power's trainer Mike Bass, Co-owner Marsh Shirtliff and the Gold Circle Chairman, Vidrik Thurling after the third race.

"Thank you for the opportunity you have given us as readers of SA Horseracing a chance to win an extremely invaluable prize. Winning it on the other hand was something to really be proud of as this is the first time such a prize has been offered and I have been given offers for my prize which I turned down because this prize/memento will stay in my family for many, many years!," said Dewee after his win.

Describing the day itself he said, "The day at Greyville exceeded all expectations from my fiancé and myself.... Ash (SAHorseracing.COM) was a splendid host to say the least. The presentation was something to be remembered. Now I can really say that I have had my 2 minutes of fame! But that stood miles apart from meeting the trainer, owner and Gold Circle chairman. It was extremely humbling to meet Mr. Bass and Mr. and Mrs. Shirtliff. Not many people can appreciate the sense of excitement in standing and shaking hands with people of this stature which I rank above par of meeting your favorite sportsman."

Gold Circle's marketing team led by Monica Holman for this task were extremely helpful and generous throughout the process of arranging the occasion. They went out of their way to make the day as special as possible and need to be complimented.

Russell Dewee and his lovely fiancé Terry were wined and dined at the famous Durban View Room compliments of Gold Circle on a day that he will no doubt treasure for a long time to come.

The Silks were sponsored by Odds-On and can be contacted on 0824458956 or [email protected].
