Top mare Typhoon Tracy has added an open weight-for-age win to her record in today's Group 1 Sportingbet C.F. Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
The long odds-on didn't deter punters from following the mare at her first run of the autumn and the race panned out exactly as expected.
Danzylum led, with Typhoon Tracy sitting second and seemingly her only danger, Heart Of Dreams, in third followed by the numerous stayers who were resuming.
A leisurely first half resulted in a slow overall time but the second half of the race was where the action was as Typhoon Tracy quickly loomed up to the leader and kicked away.
Sprinting home her last 600m in sub 33 seconds and running superb final sectionals, the mare was too good to score a comfortable win over Heart Of Dreams.
Sirmione looks on track for a good campaign with his fast finishing third while Danzylum held fourth on the inside.
Typhoon Tracy was just the third mare over the last 20 years to win the race and Peter Moody was relieved to have her first open weight-for-age success on the board.
“It's nice to get that open age win out of the way,” Moody said.
“We weren't expecting it to be easy and she's got nice improvement on the back of that.
“It was a nice soft kick-off to hopefully a fruitful campaign. The plan is to run in the Futurity in two weeks time then there's a hell of a lot of options beyond that.”
The $500,000 Group 1 Futurity Stakes is at Caulfield over a mile on February 27.
Moody said connections had an open mind to where she ended up this year, with options including Dubai, England and Hong Kong, but said it was more likely she would try at add to her Group 1 record in Sydney during the autumn.

Perfect Promise was one of the two mares to have previously won this race in Open company and in doing so became the first South African bred horse to win a group 1 in Australia. Why do we not have 1400m Gr1 's here as opposed to the numerous 1200m races?
