QUEEN MIRA is unbeaten after three starts. This is her toughest assignment yet. Once again Piere Strydom rides for Geoff Woodruff. FISANI has raced against some useful fields in feature races. Looks likely to improve. Stable companion FLIRTATION is unbeaten after two starts but has more to do. ADORABLE (Charles Laird/Anton Marcus) also faces tougher and also looks likely to improve. VALLEY OF RUBIES will be running on and can earn.

16h35 RACE 8 (Saturday) Grade 3 Tony Ruffel Stakes (R200 000) 1450m Bend

GALILEO'S GALAXY, Anton Marcus rides for Charles Laird, finished just over a length behind CURVED BALL in the Dingaans. She has a 4kg advantage and should turn the tables. PIERRE JOURDAN has excellent form and is well suited to the C & D. He will be doing his best work late and has faced some useful fields in his four starts. The other Charles Laird runner CURVED BALL won both the Dingaans and Sea Cottage very impressively. He will be running on. Anthony Delpech rides for Charles Laird. The well-bred BULSARA is likely to pick up a decent feature sooner or later. Include. ECHOHAWK can fill a minor placing.

RACE 1:Maiden Plate 1000m Straight

ARCTIC WOLF is the form of the race. There isn't much in the race in terms of form so he looks the pick. ELLA'S PARK ran well in his penultimate run but last time was well below. Back over this trip he can go close. EASTERN RESERVE has run 3 times and run 7th on all efforts. He has never been beaten by far and can run into the money now. QUIRITUS ran been poor in his last two and has something to find to win it. RAVENHILL is a first timer with some sort of chance if he is any decent.

SELECTION: 1st:- ARCTIC WOLF ** (6); 2nd:- ELLA'S PARK (2); 3rd:- EASTERN RESERVE (1)

RACE 2:Maiden Plate 1400m Bend

HOLD THE GOLD comes off a rest but his form is the best. He may do well on the more galloping track and can win this. RANDOM QUEST looks a battling maiden but his form is good enough to be able to win soon. KEEP STRIDING is incredibly well bred but ran his debut in June in KZN. He was very poor. He may need the run but he can find some betting support as that run surely can't be an accurate gauge on how good he is. MR PAPAROO is from a stable that gets them right on debut. Watch for a big run. MATHAFA has been in the money in some weak fields and can earn again.

RACE 3:Maiden Plate (F & M) 1600m Bend

IRELAND looks a decent sort. She was well beaten last time but over much further where she simply didn't stay. She will do better here. COOL CHICK is a very well bred first timer and cost a fortune. She could be anything so watch the betting. DEFINING BEAUTY has weak form from two runs but she is trained by none other than Mike De Kock. She can start to improve. MILVAGO must be ready to improve as she has the combination of Marcus, Laird and Jooste. They aren't associated with many mediocre horses and she can start to get better. JACARANDA MOON improved last time in a weak field.

RACE 4:Pinnacle Stakes  1400m Bend

IMPERIAL GESTURE is well above average. This is his second run after a rest and will be fit. His last run was good and has beaten some of this field before. BUY AND SELL is a classy sort but at best he can't be left out. REGAL RANSOM is very consistent but has his biggest test to date. He can still run well here. BRAGGADACIO has been a little disappointing but he is never beaten by far. He may find form now. CROWN OF POWER hasn't won since a minor feature in Kimberley in August. He may need it.

RACE 5:MR 68 Hcp (F & M) 2450m Bend

PIPER PILOT looks a cut above the rest in this field and is prepping for bigger races this Autumn. She looks the one to beat. SHEIKITUPBABY is no good thing but her last two runs have been much better. She can fill a place. CHIQUITITA is not very reliable but in this field she has every chance to run into the money. SPACE JEWEL was beaten well last time but back in this class she must be considered for a place. SALUTATION won her maiden last time and can run well again.

RACE 6:MR 97 Hcp (F & M) 1000m Straight

EPWORTH BELLE is a smart filly. She takes on a nice field too but she may be looking at some sprints this Autumn and can go close. WORLDWISE was well beaten last time but her form prior to that  was smart. If her last run was just a blip she can fly up and win it. PICADILLY MISS is top weight and has been racing with strong sprinters. She wasn't disgraced last time out and can run well. VAREUSE only won her novice last time and was far from convincing. She can place. FOREST LECTURE has a minor money chance.

RACE 7:MR 90 Hcp 1000m Straight

BISMARCK could be the value of the race. His penultimate run was a flop but other than that he is very honest. His last run he was beaten by WAITANGI but the turnarounds show the former now has the upper hand. WAITANGI'S last run was full of merit when he won well. He must be respected. CAPPOQUIN has been dropping down the ratings slowly. His recent form hasn't been all that great but he can show up and surprise. FUZZY CUZZY looks better on the sand but his recent form shows he can pop up. EAST BEACH is unbeaten in Zimbabwe and makes his local debut. He could be anything.

RACE 8:MR 74 Hcp 1000m Straight

TARACHELLO is the form of the race and he looks the one to beat. SHALAKO ran very well on Sunday at the Vaal and if he repeats that run he must have a chance. EL KAPITAINE gets the services of Striker Strydom but his last two runs have been below best. If he returns to form he can run well. CHALLENGER QUAY won his maiden well in his penultimate run but last time followed up well. He can place again. SKINNY JEANS was outclassed last time but back in this he can run a big race.
