BULANA GETS R60 000 FINE

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held at its offices at Greyville Racecourse on 2 March 2010, Trainer Mr B Bulana was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4 in that he was the person responsible for the horse STAGE STAR at the time when a specimen taken from this horse after it had participated in the 2nd Race at Scottsville Racecourse on 25 November 2009, disclosed upon analysis the presence of Prednisolone, which is a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority.

Trainer Bulana pleaded guilty to and was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board imposed a fine of R60 000.00.

Mr Bulana elected to exercise his right to be legally represented at this Inquiry and therefore has no right of appeal.

Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2, STAGE STAR is disqualified from the race and the provisions of Rule 67.7.8 shall apply.
