The 8-10 favourite War Artist for Alain de Royer-Dupre and jockey Olivier Peslier ran out a comfortable winner of this sprint from his stablemate Tiza, who had won the race 12 months previously.
Winning by only half a length, the former James Eustace-trained six-year-old, was in full control of the event and was more than comfortable in victory. The South Africa bred, Tiza was second making it a grand race for former South African trained horses, both of whom won group races in South Africa before being exported.
The 6th place finisher of the highly rated Goup 1 event the Golden Jubilee Stakes,War Artist, was never far from the leader this time.
He took command at the furlong marker, after which he was given four taps of the whip by Peslier before stretching out in the final stages.
"War Artist is not yet at a peak and there is still room for improvement," said the trainer. "He now goes for the [Group 1] Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville where the extra half-furlong should not be a problem.
"Tiza also ran well and Gerald Mosse rode a fine race as you have to bluff him. His target is now the Prix de Meautry at Deauville."
