 689 lots catalogued for Europe’s Premier Yearling Sale The catalogue for Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, which takes place October 5th – 7th, is now online and can be viewed at www.tattersalls.com. The catalogue for Europe’s premier yearling sale numbers 689 lots, all of which are eligible for the eight race £1,750,000 Tattersalls Millions.

Top 2010 performers from Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale include the sadly retired HARBINGER, the highest rated racehorse in the world this year, ZOFFANY, winner of the season’s first European Group 1 two year old race and Britain’s unbeaten top rated two year old filly MEMORY. This year’s catalogue features own or half brothers and sisters to a massive 297 Group/Listed winners and 44 Classic and Group 1 winners including this year’s star performers CANFORD CLIFFS, CAPE BLANCO, HARBINGER, LOPE DE VEGA, MEMORY, REGAL PARADE and RITE OF PASSAGE, as well as recent Classic winners AUTHORIZED, COCKNEY REBEL, FINSCEAL BEO, FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND, INDIAN HAVEN, MILAN and NIGHTIME.

All of the current top 10 sires in Britain and Ireland are well represented with GALILEO leading the way with 40 yearlings catalogued, followed numerically by CAPE CROSS with 37, OASIS DREAM with 35, PIVOTAL with 31, MONTJEU with 25, DANEHILL DANCER, 24 and DANSILI a further 20.

DUBAWI, ORATORIO and SHAMARDAL, who have all sired European Classic or Group 1 winners from their first crop also have plenty to represent them with 9, 12 and 24 yearlings respectively while Derby winner AUTHORIZED heads the first crop team with 32 catalogued. In total eighteen first crop sires feature in Book 1 including European Classic and Group 1 winners AMADEUS WOLF, COCKNEY REBEL, DARK ANGEL, DUTCH ART, DYLAN THOMAS, EXCELLENT ART, LAWMAN, MANDURO, NOTNOWCATO, RED CLUBS, SIR PERCY and TEOFILO.

The largest consignment comes from previous sale – topping consignor Voute Sales whose international squad of 32 features yearlings by leading USA based sires ARCH, BERNSTEIN, MR GREELEY, PROUD CITIZEN and RAHY as well as consistent British and Irish based Group 1 sires DALAKHANI, PEINTRE CELEBRE and ROYAL APPLAUSE. The Castlebridge Consignment presents the largest team from Ireland with 26 yearlings while last year’s sale topping consignor Oakgrove Stud is bringing three yearlings including the GREEN DESERT three parts sister to last year’s 700,000 guineas sale – topper by OASIS DREAM.

Commenting on the October Book 1 catalogue, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;

“Every year Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale attracts the cream of the European yearling crop and 2010 is no exception. This looks to be a catalogue of real quality and the major added attraction is that all 689 yearlings catalogued are eligible for the eight races and £1,750,000 of prize money on offer in the Tattersalls Millions. We launched the all new Tattersalls Millions last year and the huge number of race entries showed that the series had immediately caught the imagination of owners and trainers. A world class catalogue, combined with the Tattersalls Millions and the Racing Post Yearling Bonus Scheme, provides all the ingredients to attract buyers at all levels of the market from all over the world to Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale.”

Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale is online now at www.tattersalls.com and will be available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls overseas representatives from August 18th.
