SOUTH AFRICAN MARE 3RD IN U.S GROUP 1

Whilst the spoils of the Beverly D Group 1 race for fillies at Arlington Park went to German bred filly, Eclair de Lune, it was a South Africa filly, Gypsy's Warning who made the country proud in a fine display in 3rd with a late ran at the wire.

The Mogok sired KZN bred mare owned now by Team Valor and Green Latern Stables was impressive when she stormed down the center of the course to get third.

Bred by Rathmor Stud, the mare has already won at the highest level in South Africa but looks to add to her impressive C.V whilst in the U.S.

ARLINGTON MILLION GLORY FOR DEBUSSY

Debussy bounced back from Epsom and Royal Ascot disappointment to take the G2 Prix Eugene Adam at Maisons-Laffitte last July, only to conclude his sophomore season on a low note when fifth placed sixth in the G2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano at Deauville the following month.

Sent to Dubai for the Carnival, the seal brown colt failed to make an impact on either turf or Tapeta with a pair of unplaced efforts, and trainer John Gosden regrouped once more. Debussy made a winning return in the G3 Huxley S. at Chester May 6, then finished seventh in the G1 Prince of Wales's S. at Royal Ascot June 16, and came into this contest off a fourth to Summit Surge (Noverre) in the G2 York S. July 24.

After breaking from the inside, Debussy skimmed the fence in fourth as Tazeez began to freewheel up front on the backstretch. Princess Haya's flagbearer appeared to be swamped by his rivals for a few strides on the far turn, and the race looked a foregone conclusion as Gio Ponti came rolling six wide. But the wire's there for a reason. Though the chalk hit the front inside the final furlong, he seemed willing to coast to the line. William Buick lit a fire under Debussy, and the four-year-old angled back to the fence before finishing strongly in the final strides.
