PREVIEW FAIRVIEW 3 SEPTEMBER 2010

 PREVIEW FAIRVIEW 8 SEPTEMBER 2010

RACE 1:MAIDEN PLATE (F & M) 1000m Straight

Quite a competitive race. BIKINI BEACH runs on well this C & D and her last run over further should be ignored. NELL GWYNN has very consistent form and should be right there at the line. On form she can be expected to run well. today. ARCTIC BLUE was just pipped over 1200m last time. The shorter trip may be just what she needs. Upset material is ISLAND FRAGRANCE who was not disgraced when trying 1200m last time. That was after she had been running over further. Include in the exotics. Don't ignore ROSE GENTLE either. She has upped her game just recently.

SELECTIONS: 1st - BIKINI BEACH * (4); 2nd - NELL GWYNN (3); 3rd - ARCTIC BLUE (1)

RACE 2:MAIDEN PLATE 1000m Straight

CLASSIC SUN was not backed on debut last time. That did not deter him from running an excellent debut run. He was slow but flew up late to finish a creditable fourth. Certainly one to keep an eye on today. CHILLI BOY is back at his best track and over his best distance. Can go close. KING OF THE WIND has had two vastly improved runs and should go close. Others to consider are the first timer from the Allan Greeff yard, BRAD STREET and  HOUSE FULL who showed very big improvement in his second start last time.

SELECTIONS: 1st - CLASSIC SUN ** (11); 2nd - CHILLI BOY (3); 3rd - KING OF THE WIND (2)

RACE 3:MAIDEN PLATE 1400m Bend

ROMAN ART returns from a three month rest. He had two runs before that and ran on in both. If racing fresh, could be the one to beat. PERE JOSEPH has excellent form but always seems to find one better on the day. Will be sent out as favourite and must be respected for that. BALLERINA GIRL was running on when showing improvement last time. Claims on that. Keep an eye on the well bred CAMDEN BLUE. may not be stable elect though. RADO'S CLASSIC could be suited to this trip. Has been fading over further.

SELECTIONS: 1st - ROMAN ART ** (15); 2nd - PERE JOSEPH (2); 3rd - BALLERINA GIRL (16)

RACE 4:ALLOWANCE PLATE (3 Year Olds) 1200m Straight

BOB 'N WEAVE has had both of his career wins at this C & D and looks the part again today. Should be running on and is extremely well weighted. CANDEMO won on debut seven runs back and has never been too far back. Can cAUS

e an upset if the favourite "fluffs his lines". Stable jockey Warren Kennedy rides for champion PE trainer Gavin Smith. TORCIDA SPLIT showed a return to form last time. Can confirm.  DANCINGINTHEDESERT won his maiden last time despite hanging badly. It was a good win but he will more than likely have to confirm that run. Watch the betting on the first timer, HOME SWEET HOME

SELECTIONS: 1st - BOB 'N WEAVE *** (1); 2nd - CANDEMO (5); 3rd - TORCIDA SPLIT   (2)

RACE 5:GRADUATION PLATE (F & M) 1600m Bend

COCOA BEACH looks set to improve on his last two runs which both ended in very good seconds. The distance will suit and he should be right there again today. CAT WOMAN has only won this C & D and that was his maiden win a few runs back. Watch for improvement. SURGING STAR has been running on over shorter and the extra distance of today's 1600m should suit. FOREVER CASEY has found some late effort in his last few starts. This may not see her win but she may place if improving on that. ROZELANA could cAUSe and upset if repeating her penultimate run when running on strongly this C & D.

SELECTIONS: 1st - COCOA BEACH * (1); 2nd - CAT WOMAN (7); 3rd - SURGING STAR (13)

RACE 6:MR 74 Hcp (F & M) 1400m Bend

CHARIYA runs on late and well. She has won this distance. Current form has been good but what is of concern is that she appears to prefer Arlington more. Nevertheless, she does look hard to beat.  MILL KEY WAY has made the change from the Mike De Kock yard. Perhaps the compliment of having moved the Durban July winner, Bold Silvano the other way, may pay dividends. AUSTRALIAN JOLLY will be running on and is C & D suited. Should be right there. CAT O' NINE TAILS has not run over this distance for ages. may suit more as she ages. COZY CORNER has only run once at this track but did not show that day. She showed huge improvement last time. Could surprise.

SELECTIONS: 1st - CHARIYA ** (4); 2nd - MILL KEY WAY (1); 3rd - AUSTRALIAN JOLLY (3)

RACE 7:MR 88 Hcp 1400m Bend

An extremely tricky race. The utmost caution is required here. CELESTIAL MOON has his third start in PE. He had been racing in Gauteng before that. He may be ready to win today, but is not a confident choice. SNOW DRIFT appears like the 1400m journey and should not be ignored in a field such as this. NIGHT WIND had two dismal runs for Peter Miller in Kimberley. he has improved his form in PE and is worth a shout. ISLAND RETREAT has had his problems of late and any improvement could see him earn a decent cheque today. ZIPLOCK has faced stronger and should be respected for that.

SELECTIONS: 1st - CELESTIAL MOON * (7); 2nd - SNOW DRIFT (3); 3rd - NIGHT WIND (12)

RACE 8:MR 76 Hcp 1400m Bend

AFRICAN SWIFT has had steady recent form and will be running on. Chance in this field. KAHAL STREET had decent KZN form before making a nice debut in PE last time. Should continue in that vein again today. Will be find more late. NICKELODEON also has been workmanlike of late and one can expect another decent run from this one today. NAMAQUA did not show last time when forced wide when running around the bend. May make amends. HAIL THE DUKE runs on too late and as a result makes little impression. Could get it spot on today.

SELECTIONS: 1st - AFRICAN SWIFT ** (6); 2nd - KAHAL STREET (2); 3rd - NICKELODEON (5)
