South African racing fans will welcome the German master, Andreas Starke, to the tip of Africa for the International Jockey's Challenge.

The star German jock will pit his skills against some of the most talented riders of this generation at the top of his game after his inspirational win on Danedream in the Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe in Paris this October. He will race for the International team on Friday (Turffontein) and Sunday (Kenilworth) against a powerful South African team; a team who have remained unbeaten in his annual challenge since it was reignited 3 years ago.

Andrasch Starke (born 4 January 1974 in Germany) began racing at age fifteen as an amateur and since turning professional. He has won the German riding championship by wins five times. He has competed in Canada and the United States and has won races in Dubai, France, Italy, and Singapore.

In recent years Starke has also raced seasonally in Hong Kong where on two occasions he won the Cathay Pacific International Jockeys' Championship at Happy Valley Racecourse. On 2 October 2011 Starke rode German filly Danedream to victory in the 90th Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp. He will be making his first appearance at the International Jockey's Challenge in South Africa this week.
