JIMMY FORTUNE: IRISH FLAIR COMES TO S.A

Jimmy Fortune is an Irish thoroughbred jockey who apprenticed with Jim Bolger in Ireland. He will heading to South Africa to represent the international team to face South Africa. He was first licensed in 1987 and his first win came in 1988 at Thirsk riding Hitchinstown. He rode Expresso Star to a win at the 2009 William Hill Lincoln Handicap, taking home the £125,000 first place prize in the process. He is famous for riding the classy mare, Dar Re Mi, the top notch colt Debussy and South Africa's Linngari. However arguably his best mount was the world class sprinter, Oasis Dream.

Jimmy Fortune is well-known and respected for his physical strength in the saddle. He was formerly stable jockey to John Gosden, however as of 2010 has been freelance.

He rimds me of Rhys Van Wyk.....Powerful hands and once he hits the front......you have too be on Red Bull if you want to pass him.....I like his ride for Team Valor and I had a punt on this one just to get the better of Tommy Guns!!
