A nine race card from Singapore on Friday and kranjiracing is hoping the cream rises to the top with six horses carrying the number one saddle cloth selected to win.
ALL FORUS hopefully starts the ball-rolling in race 1 and looks every chance after an eye-catching first up effort with Opie Bosson in the saddle last time out.
The champion New Zealand hoop stays on-board suggesting trainer Bruce Marsh thinks ALL FORUS doesn’t require a claim to win and Boson’s experience enough to get him home.
NANDOWRA, first up after his failed Gold Cup attempt, looks set to carry the one saddle cloth and Danny Beasley to victory in the third in what is a very suitable race with connections of COFFEE KID also opting for the services of an experienced hoop, John Powell, on the one horse in race four.
The top-weights get a relief in Race 5 when Willy Tan takes 3kg off the 59.5kg impost of the consistent SILVERON WINGS – that looks a winning move – and likewise R Shafiq’s 2kg off PADDY O’REILLY in the race 6 looks likely to get a result.
In race 8, John Powell will be using his experience to get the exciting AL’S KNIGHT back into the winner’s enclosure to hopefully make it a good night for the ‘Numero Uno’s’.
All races are on the Short Course (D) Turf.
Best Bets; NANDOWRA (Race 3, win), SILVERON WINGS (race 5, win), DYNAMIC VENTURE (race 9, each-way).
Bankers for Jackpots: Race 6 (1, 2, 4, 5, 8 and 9) race 7 (2, 4, 7, 8 11 and 12), race 8 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8) and race 9 (2, 3, 5, 6, 11 and 13).

RACE 1: MAIDEN (1) - 1600M COURSE D (SC) TIME: 18:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
Larry says, "The opener looks a bit thin with realistically only three or four winning hopes on recent form. Those with winning hopes - ALL FORUS, AMAZON BOY, HIGH FLY MARCO and HIGH TICK - all have looked like breaking through previously in their respective short careers and one should earn a winning percentage for connections today. And with HIGH TICK and HIGH FLY MARCO coming off just OK runs, I think we can narrow it down again to ALL FORUS and AMAZON BOY who both gave eye-catching displays at their last starts. ALL FORUS was first up, making his run from the rear (courtesy of a bad gate) all the more impressive and Opie Bosson will be making sure he gets a better position early after drawing gate three. All things considered the AL AKBAR 4YO could be hard to hold out at his fifth career start and might even go on with the job over longer again. But AMAZON BOY did more than enough last start to think he keeps ALL FORUS honest. The South African-bred 5YO had excuses in running on that occasion and certainly had enough up his sleeve at the business end to think he will win a race very soon. As mentioned HIGH FLY MARCO and HIGH TICK are usually in the mix but weren't at their best last start. Both will keep this interesting but the form from the rest of the field falls away dramatically."

RACE 2: CLASS 4 - 1200M COURSE D (SC) TIME: 18:50 PRIZE MONEY: S$55000
Larry says, "This race looks impossible with at least five of the raced brigade having some winning hope and three newcomers added to the mix. Of the three newcomers, Kiwi handler, Mark Walker, has two and SPECIAL ENCORE and A CUT ABOVE both look handy types. Both are one-time winners from New Zealand and both look to have trailed well enough to go well at their Singapore debuts. Walker has his two 'stable hoops', the experienced Opie Bosson (SPECIAL ENCORE) and top apprentice R Shafiq (A CUT ABOVE) on-board and obviously the market is going to give us a good indication of the lay of the land between the two. But they are up against some in-form good Class 4 (or better) types in CHARLY B , SICHUAN RULER and the Class dropper, MOON'S FAIRY. CHARLY B showed at his last couple he wins sooner than later in this company and SICHUAN RULER - who rarely runs a bad race - likewise. In fact it is hard to split the twp so MOON'S FAIRY gets the top pick partly on default and partly on some very good Class 3 form that more than holds up here. Add a smart 3kg claimer and the MOSSMAN mare could deliver a knock-out blow. Of the others I think MR GEE comes in for support first start with blinkers (trial good and the obvious Moreira factor) with DASH FOR WIN the value runner in what is a super tough race for punters. "

RACE 3: PROGRESS (SET WEIGHTS) - 1400M COURSE D (SC) TIME: 19:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$75000
Larry says, "Trainer Michael Freedman looks to have found the ideal race for one of his stable stars. NANDOWRA, to make his return to racing after what was disappointing Singapore Gold Cup run in November. But that ambitious attempt at 2200m Group 1 glory at just start 10, shows how highly regarded the SAVABEEL 4YO is held by the trainer and this first up run over 1400m at condition weights looks perfect to get him straight back into the winners circle. Although carrying 58kg in this race, the gelding is actually best in at the weights and with some excellent first up form to his name and looking good on the training track this preparation, hard to beat. And this race lacks depth so jockey Danny Beasley only has a few horses to keep an eye on with KNIGHT SPIRIT, DAVIDE and PREDICTABLE the only realistic threats. Of the three I think KNIGHT SPIRIT has the best winning hope, courtesy of a very smart 3kg claim by trainer Brian Dean. The small field also helps this 'swooper' and expect him to be doing better than most when it counts and some hope if close enough to NANDOWRA late. DAVIDE battled on well last start - his first over this distance - and I expect the same and keeps the race honest with PREDICTABLE the only other horse in the mix."

RACE 4: CLASS 5 - 1400M COURSE D (SC) TIME: 19:50 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
Larry says, "Not a lot of winning form in this Class 5 and when you consider only the stayer, ALL DRAMA, has a recent win (2200m) to his name, it's hard to be confident. But the top-weight, COFFEE KID, is in good form and looks 'due' to knock in his second career win. And while his first win was almost one year ago, it is worth noting is was over 1400m so a good sign that this trip is his best. His last start over 1700m was good enough doing it tough to think if John Powell gets any sort of run from the awkward gate today, he can win. It does look a raffle though and one horse that may have a 'winning ticket' is OH YES OH NOE. Although normally seen on the Poly, the Mohd Yusof-trained 5YO did plenty (also tough) first up and that run is going to hold him in good stead in what is an open race. Like COFFEE KID, AETON's only win was over 1400m and he also showed enough to think he gives this a shake for leading apprentice, R Shafiq. A few others to consider with MR VANTASTIC looking the value runner first up after a shocker - keep safe in exotics."

RACE 5: KRANJI STAKES C (SET WEIGHTS) - 1600M COURSE D (SC) TIME: 20:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$75000
Larry says, "A small field is always a worry in a race like this with tactics likely to play a huge part in the result. But banking on an honest pace out front with someone keeping MARAETI company, I think class will prevail with SILVERON WINGS and SOUTH GATE fighting out the finish. SILVERON WINGS in particular looks very well suited back in this company with a 3kg claim for Willy Tan and hard to beat. The 4YO NZ-bred gelding has been in terrific form in very strong company and while never winning over this distance, handles 1600m no problem and can add the mile to his winning CV. The horse he has to beat is the smart SOUTH GATE. Like SILVERON WINGS, the La Dragon-trained SOUTH GATE hasn't won past 1400m but both 4YO's look Derby chances later this year and will be doing best work late in this. Of the rest, DARING FIGHTER has very good winning form to his name and while a step up in Class, he is going too well not to be kept in calculations. Tote a good guide for the rest as most need to lift on recent form."

RACE 6: MAIDEN (2) - 1600M COURSE D (SC) TIME: 20:50 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
Larry says, "The tote is going to be a terrific guide here as stable support for the likes of GOLDEN DOMINATOR and PADDY O'REILLY is likely and an indicator to their winning hopes. In fact given a smart recent trial with the addition of blinkers, GOLDEN DOMINATOR might even give favouritism a push which is amazing given he went around at cricket score odds last start when finishing fifth. But he showed enough that run to think the blinkers help and goes mighty close in what is just a fair maiden field. The horse he has to beat is PADDY O'REILLY who looks very well suited from gate three after doing it super tough from a wide gate last start. Add the 2kg claim from champion apprentice, R Shafiq, and the O'REILLY 4YO should be in this a very long way and hard to beat. Of the rest it is hard to be confident with SHOPPING LIST, COMMANCHE, KING OF LOTUS and RIEUSSEC MAGIC all coming off poor runs."

RACE 7: CLASS 5 (4-YO) - 1200M COURSE D (SC) TIME: 21:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
Larry says, "This looks one of the uglier races for punters on the card and like the previous event, the tote is going to be our best friend. In saying that we have RICH BORN on top - a horse beaten some 12 lengths as the odds-on favourite at his last start. And while that is a very big concern, his trainer, Leslie Khoo, hasn't missed many of late and I'm happy to forgive what was a costly blemish and give another chance on his good form since blinkers added three runs back. With scratchy form from top to bottom in this race, I can make a case for HEARTS SAGA on his nice effort in Class 4 company two starts back. Like RICH BORN (and a few others in this field), he didn't back that good run up but with a 4kg Denis Oon claim and gate three, he can be considered. ZAC COMMAND is another horse that has been costly for punters but goes well enough on good day to go close but again, hard to be confident. "

RACE 8: CLASS 3 - 1200M COURSE D (SC) TIME: 21:50 PRIZE MONEY: S$75000
Larry says, "While I will be keeping an eye on the likes of MAPLE STAR, ONE MORE MINUTE and the newcomer, DAMO, this race does look a battle between AL'S KNIGHT and RUSH. Both horses have been exceptional at their respective five career starts and there shouldn't be much between them on the dividend board and on the track. AL'S KNIGHT probably shades his younger rival given the fact he was beaten for the first time at his last outing but showed more than enough in defeat to bounce back today. The FASTNET ROCK gelding was more than impressive winning four-from-four prior to that and happy to think he has the class needed to match a horse like RUSH in what looks a terrific match up. But RUSH, with three wins and a second from his five starts, looks the real deal and the stable will be confident he runs a huge race first up since winning on Gold Cup day. The CHARGE FORWARD gelding, placed second behind MR BIG in the Juvenile Championship, will look at this as a stepping stone to the Three-year-old series and is certainly worth following. As mentioned, MAPLE STAR and ONE MORE MINUTE (resuming) should both keep things interesting late with the newcomer, DAMO (Pat Shaw), - a Group 1 winner from Argentina - the wild-card with tote certainly the best guide on his chances."

RACE 9: RESTRICTED MAIDEN (2+3YO) (WEIGHT FOR AGE) - 1200M COURSE D (SC) TIME: 22:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$65000
Larry says, "An oddity in the fact a Restricted Maiden sends us home and with a handful of what look genuine winning chances, finding the winner could be tricky. Obviously the tote is going to be a good guide on the newcomers, but from the trials the best of the debutantes does look to be SHUTTLE MAN and certainly worth giving him a long look on the day. Moreira takes the ride - so expect support - and after drawing wide a positive ride early is on the cards and no reason the Japanese-bred 3YO isn't involved late. But I have a couple of horses (DYNAMIC VENTURE and DON INAKI) that have shown plenty at the track and are ready to win in front of him in my early picks. DYNAMIC VENTURE in particular backed up a very promising debut with a nice placing behind KOMPRESSOR last time out and I think that form holds up here. Willy Tan claims 3kg on the GET SQUARE gelding and that will be a factor given SHUTTLE MAN gets 3.5kg relief as a Northern Hemisphere-bred. DON INAKI has been 'up' since making his debut in July but any thoughts he was due for a freshen up were dispelled last start with a close up placing. That effort has him one of the major players in this and certainly the benchmark in what is a solid Restricted Maiden field. Of the others, BABY FACE (placed at one start in Malaysia and with a nice recent trial under his belt) and STARLITE SHOWER (resuming after some good form) have to be considered."
