Five races from Singapore on Sunday and while the Dubai-bound BETTER BE THE ONE is the horse to watch in race 9, some lightly raced good types in the other four races make the meeting well worth a look.
In the Open Sprint, BETTER BE THE ONE will be hoping to board the plane to Dubai with another win under his belt and if the MORE THAN READY 5YO returns in the form he showed last campaign, he is hard to beat.
Obviously, the 1,000m Poly specialist NORTHERN LION is his biggest threat and the battle between the two could be a cracker.
As mentioned there are plenty of other promising horses to follow on the day with TERMINATOR, for trainer Don Baertschiger, a big show to make it two wins from two career starts in race 8.
The ONE COOL CAT 3YO was super impressive winning on debut and with that form franked by TAICHI MASTER, one of the better bets on the card.
In races 10 and 11, a couple of lightly raced but smart 4YO’s in XIN YIN and JET STREAM look like horses to follow and wins for both would not surprise.
It’s a mixed surface meeting with races 8, 9 and 10 on the all-weather Polytrack and races 7 and 11 on the Short Course (E), Turf.
Best Bets; BETTER BE THE ONE/NORTHERN LION (race 9, swinger), TERMINATOR (race 8, win) and XIN YIN (race 10, win).
Bankers for Jackpots: Race 8 (4, 5, 6, 8 and 9), race 9 (1 and 2), race 10 (3), race 11 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8).

RACE 7: MAIDEN - 1200M COURSE E (SC) TIME: 15:55 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
Larry says, "A few of the fancies have had their chances to win of late but with no stand-outs, the likes of MAN OF SUBSTANCE, ACE ADALID and MOOVA EIGHT, all have to be seriously considered in this maiden. Both MAN OF SUBSTANCE and ACE ADALID did it tough enough last time out to give another chance on their best form but both need to string a couple of good runs in-a-row to get back the punters confidence. And with this in mind, I have HEARD THE LATEST - with just one Singapore run to his name - as my top pick and happy to think he has something to offer in maiden company. In fact his Singapore debut run (with some support) was in Class 4 company and you would think that effort good enough for the stable to have some confidence going into this. I expect support and a big run from the SHAMARDAL gelding with the in-form Danny Beasley on-board. The emergency, MOOVA EIGHT, probably has the best exposed form in this and plays a big part if he gets a start. A tough race but no depth and happy to concentrate on the four mentioned."

RACE 8: CLASS 4 - 1200M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 16:30 PRIZE MONEY: S$55000
Larry says, "They said he will be back and just a month after what was a very impressive debut win, TERMINATOR returns to racing. The Don Baertschiger-trained 3YO went to the track on that occasion with some nice trials under his belt, but the support on debut suggested he has something in hand and his easy win suggested that mail was spot on. The horse he beat that day, TAICHI MASTER, has more than franked the form by spread-eagling the field at his next start and no reason to think TERMINATOR doesn't win this and perhaps win this well. He has drawn badly - always a concern - but his main danger on paper, PRINCE PARETO, has drawn just outside and TERMINATOR does look to have plenty of early speed. As mentioned PRINCE PARETO does look the danger after narrowly going down in a similar affair at his last start. Opie Bosson takes the ride and no doubt will use his experience and the fact TERMINATOR has drawn directly inside him to his advantage. There are plenty of other horses with solid Class 4 form to follow in this and I will be keeping an eye on the likes of BROWN SUGAR and ZAFONIC STAR as the pair are horses to follow and might just sneak out to very nice odds."

RACE 9: OPEN - 1000M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 17:00 PRIZE MONEY: S$125000
Larry says, "While at first glance this race looks a 'gimme' for Dubai placed and bound BETTER BE THE ONE, at the handicap conditions it could get interesting. Sure, BETTER BE THE ONE with five wins and that Group placing in Dubai to his name since arriving in Singapore deserves top-impost but he might just need every bit of the Willy Tan 3kg claim first up if he is to hold out 1000m specialist, NORTHERN LION. The last time the pair met - at similar weights - NORTHERN LION showed why he is one of Singapore's best over the 1000m dash and no reason to think he goes close to knocking off BETTER BE THE ONE again in what would be some sort of upset. In saying that, with no other real danger, NORTHERN LION should get plenty of punter support and looks the stand-out second favourite. Throw a blanket over the rest for the minors."

RACE 10: CLASS 3 - 1100M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 17:30 PRIZE MONEY: S$75000
Larry says, "This looks a terrific race on paper with a couple of up-and-coming stars in YIN XIN and HARD STUFF up against some more than handy Class 3 Poly sprinters in SQUALL LINE and TROPICAL FOREST. Throw in the newcomer in GLOWNIGHT RACER and the underrated SHINING GLORY and the winner certainly earns his monthly keep. And YIN XIN, already a money spinner for connections, can continue his great form that has yielded three wins and three seconds from just six career starts. And while he has certainly impressed at all three wins, it was his last start effort carrying 58kg in Graduation company that has him winning this. The QUORUM 4YO enjoys this surface as well, winning his last three on the Poly. But it certainly won't be a case of just showing up on the day for YIN XIN with the likes of HARD STUFF - three wins and two places from his five starts - with just 49.5kg to carry in this. He also loves the Poly and although drawn awkwardly in 8, should get a nice carry into the race with YIN XIN drawn directly inside him. Of the others I will be keeping a close eye on GLOWNIGHT RACER who has impressed at two trials since arriving as a race 5YO from NZ. This race looks tough for his Kranji debut but with no weight he could be the surprise packet in a race with plenty of depth. Obviously the likes of SQUALL LINE and TROPICAL FOREST have to be respected at their best and the versatile SHINING GLORY not a bad each-way option at likely value."

RACE 11: CLASS 4 - 1400M COURSE E (SC) TIME: 18:00 PRIZE MONEY: S$55000
Larry says, "The equal top weight, JET STREAM, looks to have found a very winnable Class 4 race to continue his good run of form that has his record standing at two wins and two places from five career starts. The SAVABEEL 4YO stepped up to Class 4 with plenty of promise two stars back before easily accounting for his opposition last time out. Although up in weight, that form holds up here and the 1400m looks ideal and the one to beat in the lucky last. One to watch though is BERNANKE. The former Australian galloper showed plenty with heavy support at two starts in his first preparation before just a fair first-up hit-out last start. But with that run under his belt, I expect him to show his best in what looks an open field and a win would not surprise. Of the others it will pay to give ZAC NIRVANA another chance (jockey lost use of irons last start), STANZOUT some hope dropping back to Class 4, FUKU ICHIBAN in form and worth following stepping up to Class 4 with CINDERELLA MAN the value.
