There are six races on the card from Singapore on Sunday, a mixed surface meeting with race 9 on the all-weather Polytrack and races 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12 on the Long Course (C), Turf.
And while the only race on the Polytrack looks an average affair at best, the following race (10), an Open Class sprint worth $125,000, looks a beauty and well worth the wait.
The race pits stable-mates BETTER BE THE ONE and SUPER EASY against each other for the first time and at the handicap conditions, the ‘match-race’ couldn’t be more interesting.
SUPER EASY, with just 51.5kg and gunning for his sixth straight win, does look the obvious choice at first glance and punters will most likely flock to this exciting 3YO colt.
But his more highly-rated stable-mate, BETTER BE THE ONE, is in arguably career best form and when you consider he was placed in International Group company in Dubai in March 2011, that has to count for something.
And the fact Michael Freedman has opted for a senior hoop, Stephen Baster, on the MORE THAN READY 5YO suggests they think he can win carrying the weight and might just sneak out to value given his race record and outstanding recent form.
Best Bets; DAVIDE (Race 11, win), DARING FIGHTER (race 7, each-way) and BETTER BE THE ONE/SUPER EASY (race 10, exacta/swinger).
Bankers for Jackpots: Race 9 (2 and 4) race 10 (1 and 4), race 11 (3) and race 12 (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10, 11 and 14).

RACE 7: CLASS 4 - 1800M COURSE C (LC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 15:55 PRIZE MONEY: S$55000
Larry says, "A very solid Class 4 field heads to the starter in a race where you could make a strong winning case for at least five of the runners. The likes of MAKE A RETURN will ensure a truly run race and on the Long Course (C), a busy finish is expected. But I think the best recent form in the race comes from DARING FIGHTER and VOLPISTA and happy to concentrate on those two. DARING FIGHTER in particular has been in terrific form and certainly lost no friends in finishing third when never really suited by the slow pace out front at his last start. As mentioned, the race should suit swoopers and the in-form Zaki should have plenty of horse under him late and another win for DRAMA CRITIC 4YO would not surprise. VOLPISTA obviously has good form for this winning over 1600m at his last start. He stays in Class 4 for his efforts - that's always a bonus - and has winning form over this trip which suggests back-to-back wins is on the cards. In at similar weights, ALACARTE and BY LAW will both have admirers and go close with MAKE A RETURN some hope if given an easy time out front. Throw in BOWIE KNIFE, BOY and ROOY for value in exotics."

RACE 8: MAIDEN (2) - 1400M COURSE C (LC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 16:30 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
Larry says, "After seven runs in Class 4 company since arriving as a raced horse to Singapore, RISKY VENTURE gets a huge chance to open his winning account in suitable maiden company. The MUGHAAREG 5YO looked like winning in more than one of those starts and did more than enough when blinkers added last time out to think he wins today with Stephen Baster on-board. It is a solid maiden field though and he will have to be at his best with SMARTY SMARTY, TAI COMMANDS and HIGH TICK all winning hopes. SMARTY SMARTY in particular looked very good at his first run back from a spell to think he enjoyed the break and is a horse to follow. TAI COMMANDS also showed more than enough to the wire last start to think he is 'due' and should enjoy the 2kg claim and the nice gate. Of the rest I will be keeping the Theo Keiser-trained CLASSIC THUNDER safe as he does look the improver stepping up to 1400m. "

RACE 9: CLASS 5 (CLAIMING RIDERS ONLY) - 1900M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 17:00 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
Larry says, "This field is ordinary to say the least and barring something improving in leaps and bounds, it looks a race in two between TOP HAPPINESS and KING OF LOTUS. TOP HAPPINESS in particular has been in terrific form since stepping up in distance three starts back and no reason to think he doesn't continue that run here. In fact he may even go round at close to even money - amazing when you consider he went round at closer to 50-1 only four starts ago. The booking of the experienced Mark Ewe looks a very smart move by trainer Leslie Khoo and the stables red-hot form can continue. The horse that gives him the most trouble is KING OF LOTUS who should get every chance from gate six. While still a maiden, a few of his recent efforts doing it tough have been good and he should get supported today and run accordingly. The two horses that should improve and might be value are THREE KINGS and OLYMPIC MAN - both with blinkers added - and they will feature heavily in exotics combinations. Although he will feature in the betting and pre-race discussions, I have left SWEET DREAM out of my selections as he has struggled when racing recently with no head-gear but certainly good enough at his best."

RACE 10: OPEN - 1200M COURSE C (LC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 17:30 PRIZE MONEY: S$125000
Larry says, "This race - although a beauty in its own right - looks interesting in the dilemma it has given trainer Michael Freedman with SUPER EASY up against BETTER BE THE ONE. Both can win, both will get support, however, both are probably looking elsewhere for bigger spoils. But with only 51.5kg to carry, Joao Moreira on-board and boasting five wins from five starts in Singapore, SUPER EASY looks the one the stable support will be on and hard to beat. The DARCI BRAHMA colt added a Group win to his resume at his last start and looks to have the lucrative 3YO series at his mercy with one eye on the KrisFlyer in May. But he is in too well at the weights today and six-from-six looks on the cards. BETTER BE THE ONE won't lie down though. The Dubai Group placed sprinter is probably in better form than he was going into the World Cup meeting last year and while 59kg looks a big ask here (interesting no claim), he will go close. Of the rest ATO is right in the mix, EXCAVATOR a horse to follow and RAPIDO STAR looks in good order down the ratings. But all eyes on SUPER EASY as he guns for win number six."

RACE 11: CLASS 3 - 1200M COURSE C (LC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 18:00 PRIZE MONEY: S$75000
Larry says, "Although there are four last start winners in this race, it is not the strongest Class 3 fields we have seen of late and it looks set for a smart lightly raced type like DAVIDE to knock in another win. The Argentinean-bred 4YO has been impressive winning three and been placed twice from just six starts and comes into this after being gallant in defeat to the respected NANDOWRA at his last start. The drop back to 1200m looks ideal as do the handicap conditions with Barend Vorster asked to carry just 54.5kg. And while he is up against four last start winners - GETREEL, COUNTRY CLUB, GOAL KEEPER and VIDEO CALL - only GETREEL won in similar company and he looks the obvious danger. Also up the weights, HAMMER DOWN looks suited back on the turf with GOAL KEEPER some hope although a query over 1200m."

RACE 12: CLASS 4 (1) - 1200M COURSE C (LC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 18:30 PRIZE MONEY: S$55000
Larry says, "The only 3YO in the field, TAICHI MASTER, looks to have found a tough Class 4 event for his first foray into open company, but has ability and can win. The form from his debut second placing was franked when he spread-eagled the field at his next start and TERMINATOR (who beat him on debut) won handsomely in Class 4 at his next start. TAICHI MASTER has drawn the rails, which certainly helps his cause, and Danny Beasley should get every opportunity to continue both his and the horses’ great run of form. But he has a few to beat and although not winning in nine starts in Singapore and coming off a below par run, I rate CHARLY B a big show. The Pat Shaw-trained 4YO looked due before a bad start cost him any chance last time out and the switch to the senior stable hoop, Barend Vorster, looks a very positive move. Of the rest, MATTERHORN always looks a winning hope but desperately needs a result for the good work with HUMOUR TOWN a horse to follow but will need more luck than he has had of late from bad gates.
