MILLION POUND CARROT DANGLED FOR CAVIAR, FRANKEL MATCH

Australian sensation Black Caviar is only likely to run in the Qipco Sussex Stakes if connections feel it is the right thing to do with the unbeaten mare, regardless of a £1million carrot being dangled for a clash with Frankel.

The big-race sponsors have pledged to up the prize-money for the Group One mile event from its current £300,000 - if Frankel and Black Caviar, the world's top two horses, turn up at Glorious Goodwood on August 1.

Black Caviar, who is on a 19-race winning streak, has been campaigned at sprint distances, running just once at seven furlongs and never at a mile and her trainer Peter Moody told Sky Sports News: "It's a great initiative from the sponsors and it's certainly something we will consider strongly."

He added: "This mare has raced in races we thought best suited to her through her whole career and the million wouldn't sway us. If we thought she was in good form and ready to go we would consider it.

"We've always thought strongly she would handle 1600 metres, if not 2000, but she is such a hulk of a mare so whether she would cope with the training for that is more of a concern than the race.

"We are fortunate in that we have a lot of big-money contests in Australia that she is eligible to run in and if we did keep her in Britain after Royal Ascot we would miss a lot of those at our spring carnival, so there's lots to consider.

"I'm probably a bit like Henry Cecil, it doesn't worry me one way or another (who people think is the best horse), it is just opinion.

"We are very proud of our mare. Neither Frankel or Black Caviar will probably meet outside of our comfort zones. We don't have a great need to meet Frankel but don't read that as us being afraid of him. It would be great for the sport but not detrimental to either horse if it didn't happen.

"The two races we are looking at for her are the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and the July Cup at Newmarket. She would have to come through both races really well to consider it (the Sussex Stakes).

"She's a pleasure to have around the place, she is in great form. She is back in training and getting ready to run in four weeks' time, she will probably have two prep runs before Royal Ascot. We think we may be meeting inferior (sprint) opposition in Britain but against that we are having to travel three quarters of the way around the world."

Wise words from Moody and I repsect his concerns and vision....because both have nothing to prove albeit it be the Publics wish(Racing public).....In any case the World Cup in Dubai was rather dissapointing as the promotion and invites were left for the last 6 weeks. Whilst there is hype around certain clashes and head on rivalry, I would suggest that invitations should be spelt out publicly and within reasonable time frames. South Africa is becoming a victim of Global Race Industry Apartheid.....WHY? because the reasoning behind protocols rather favours Europe, America, Asia and the Islands down under than AFRICA.....Contest my opinion if you will

You are absolutely right Raymond! But returning to Peter Moody, I think this man has a big mouth. Just listen to what he said "...We think we may be meeting inferior (sprint) opposition in Britain..." !!!! How on earth can a guy like him who has little or no experience training overseas could state something like that and OMG saying that about England??!! When you consider that master trainer Mike de Kock who has trained and raced winners around the world once said something like that "England is the toughest racing jurisdiction in the world. It is so so difficult to bring out a winner...", and Peter Moody talking about inferior opposition, you certainly feel like slapping the guy. When you have an unbeaten horse, it doesn't mean you have to lower the credits of others. He's talking about inferiority but I am sure he will make every excuses good to avoid Frankel. He knows deep down that her mighty mare will have no response over a mile with the world's #1.

This man likes to talk a lot but he really fear real opposition. For him it is just about keeping her unbeaten run. He always wanted to keep her in Australia for a straight 20 while her poor owners shall I say, wanted to taste international glory in Dubai like all normal human beings would want apart from Peter Moody who likes to travel back and forth in Australia where Black Caviar's opposition is only her shadow. As always he put forward a number of unjustified reasons to keep her away from real world class opposition and God knows if we will really see Black Caviar in England this year or the man might come up with another thing like "Ok she has nothing left to prove as being the world's highest rated sprinter ever, so she will now be retired after her unparalleled 20th win" I won't like to see that but I'm just saying it because you never know with this man.

So moody Peter Moody shut up your big mouth and bring her on the world stage once and for all. When don't you go in Singapore in May for a major International Group 1 Sprint to meet with the likes of Rocket Man, Krypton Factor, ...??!! Oh no sorry I forgot you should be running her once or twice in Australia before sending her overseas!!! :p

Go Easy on Moody. He has a superstar in Black Caviar who is a giant of a horse and therefore he needs to take things race by race. Frankel will be hard to beat of 1600m just like Black Caviar will be over anything up to 1400 and perhaps further. His comment about inferior opposition in the UK is correct if you look at how the Aussie horses have done iin the past in the UK over sprint trips with very little preparation and a lot of travelling. Just like when the UK stayers come to Melbourne. They tend to struggle initially but improve after settling in. Bring on the Caviar!

Is there any possibility? I don't think so.
