An Exciting Catalogue for the 2012 Cape Mare Sale 24 May

There is a strong catalogue for next week's Cape Mare and Weanling Sale. The sale will be held at Kleinplasie, in Worcester, on the Thursday following Highlands Farms' Stallion Evening. The sale starts at 10h00 and 291 lots (following two withdrawals) are set to go through the ring.

Many of the country's top breeders have mares and weanlings entered on the sale, and there are a number of exciting broodmares and broodmare prospects up for sale. The broodmares have been covered by top sires like Trippi, Kahal, Western Winter, Captain Al, Var and Greys Inn, to name just a few.

There are also mares in foal to promising sires like Rebel King, Seventh Rock, Great Britain, Mambo In Seattle, Visionaire and Lateral, to mention but a few.

There are a number of well bred mares, who are either out of, or sisters to, G1 winners and producers. Among the proven producers, lot 160 stands out. Cry For The Lion, who is not in foal, is the dam of champion Aslan, and she is offered for sale by The Alchemy (as Agent).

Fly To The Stars, who sells as lot 180, is another mare with an excellent record. Consigned by Highlands Stud, Fly To The Stars is the dam of brialliant filly Diana's Choice, as well as the latter's talented full brother, Straw Market. She is back in foal to Windrush - sire of both Diana's Choice and Straw Market.

Another exciting prospect bound to be popular includes Easyjadeasy, who is catalogued to sell as lot 170. A brilliant, stakes winning 2yo, Easyjadeasy (a half-sister to exciting young sire Elusive Fort), is offered, in foal to Western Winter, by Gavin Schafer (to dissolve a partnership).

Yet another lot with a pedigree to match her race record is Supreme Duel, catalogued as lot 98. In foal to Judpot, Supreme Duel is herself a stakes winner, and is also dam of the stakes winner, Supreme Gold. She is offered by Varsfontein Stud (Agent).

There are also a number of stakes winning maiden mares, selling either as fillies for stud, or as future racing prospects. Among the fillies on sale is the G2 winner WayWest Goddess as well as Listed winners In Like Flynn and Princess Alberta.

Over and above the well bred and successful broodmares, there are also a number of classy looking weanlings set to go under the hammer. The weanlings are by such successful sires as Dynasty, Fort Wood, Count Dubois, Black Minnaloushe and Silvano. There are also weanlings by promising young stallions like Judpot, Seventh Rock, Jay Peg, Elusive Fort and Argonaut (to name but a few).

The 2012 Cape Mare and Weanling Sale promises to produce some terrific mares for the future, and should not be missed by any breeder.
