Scratchings up to date as at 18h00 Friday 25 May 2012.
RACE 1:Maiden Plate 1800m Bend
DIVINE INVITATION has the best form of those horses racing in this race. Has placed this C & D. WILLIAM CONQUEST (Sean tarry) will be running on. Has some fair form over shorter. may improve this distance. GOLDEN STREAM (Michael Azzie) has had two fair runs. Must have a shout. IBHOLA runs for the twenty-ninth time and is battling for that maiden victory. ANY FLAG will have to repeat his penultimate start when running on.
SELECTIONS: 1st - DIVINE INVITATION * (1); 2nd - WILLIAM CONQUEST (3); 3rd - GOLDEN STREAM (11); 4th - IBHOLA (7); 5th - ANY FLAG (2)
RACE 2:Maiden Plate 1450m Bend
DISCO BOY is a consistent place finder and loves this C & D. Should go close if racing handy again. SENATOR is another who has consistent form. Has also placed this C & D. Could go close. GAZ MAN showed very good improvement last time and can go on from that. ROAMING IN ROME also showed significant improvement last time. Respect. MCFEARLESS (Sean Tarry) has been improving with every run and is one to be wary of.
SELECTIONS: 1st - DISCO BOY * (1); 2nd - SENATOR (3); 3rd - GAZ MAN (4); 4th - ROAMING IN ROME (2); 5th - MCFEARLESS (5)
RACE 3:Maiden Plate (F & M) 1450m Bend
ALJAWHARA (Mike De Kock/Tshwaro Appie) should be too good for this field. She has only run twice and her best run was her debut run over this distance at Clairwood when running on. HURRICANE VELVET improved by eight lengths last time. LADY'S DESIRE also showed very good improvement last time when running on. ATALAYA did not show last time when taking a drop in distance. ONEMORENOMORE makes her debut. Watch the betting.
SELECTIONS: 1st - ALJAWHARA ** (11); 2nd - HURRICANE VELVET (1); 3rd - LADY'S DESIRE (2); 4th - ATALAYA (3); 5th - ONEMORENOMORE (12)
RACE 4:MR 68 Apprentice Hcp 1450m Bend
TILMAN has been improving slowly. The draw could be problematic but he was running on last time in a similar field. CELTIC KING has good post maiden form but may be better suited to the Vaal turf and sand. Consider on form. DUAL ALLIANCE (Sean Tarry) could not find a way through last time. Was baulked late on. GREENWICH ran on to win over 1400m last time. Has every chance of repeating. CAPRICHOSA is never far back but is inclined to be inconsistent.
SELECTIONS: 1st - TILMAN * (4); 2nd - CELTIC KING (7); 3rd - DUAL ALLIANCE (10); 4th - GREENWICH (8); 5th - CAPRICHOSA (2)
RACE 5:Pinnacle Stakes 2600m Bend
PRINCESS OF LIGHT (Geoff Woodruff) has the form to win. Is a very good stayer who could win a few decent races. S'IL VOUS PLAIT (Ormond Ferraris) will be running on. BAMAKO (Sean Tarry/Tshwaro Appie) has good form but tackles stronger. BELMONTE has been improving but does not always have the best of luck in running. SALUTATION improved by twenty nine lengths last time. Is better than recent form suggests. Place prospect at best.
SELECTIONS: 1st - PRINCESS OF LIGHT * (3); 2nd - S'IL VOUS PLAIT (2); 3rd - BAMAKO (8); 4th - BELMONTE (4); 5th - SALUTATION (6)
RACE 6:MR 89 Hcp 1600m Bend
TIGER FLASH (Lucky Houdalakis) has been speedy over the sprint distances now tries this trip for the first time. Good form over shorter and he may just about enjoy this trip. BEAU BOIS runs well over the distance and has a very good chance. EDICT is an honest sort but travels this distance for the first time. Has run well at this track. CARIBBEAN COAST may have more to do for the win but could still earn. CITY OF BELLS (Michael Azzie) takes on stronger but can pop up on form three and four runs back where he won displaying good fight back.
SELECTIONS: 1st - TIGER FLASH * (5); 2nd - BEAU BOIS (7); 3rd - EDICT (1); 4th - CARIBBEAN COAST (4); 5th - CITY OF BELLS (9)
RACE 7:Syringa Handicap (Listed) (R135 000) 1600m Bend
JET IN THE SKY (Geoff Woodruff/Marco Van Rensburg) has yet to run a bad race. She won her last two impressively and even though she takes on stronger this afternoon she looks to be an impressive sort. Expect her to be doing her best work late. DEMANDING LADY (Lucky Houdalakis) is unbeaten this C & D (2 from 2). She too will be running on late and she has yet to run out of the top three with three wins. SAUCY SAVANNAH (Mike De Kock) also comes into this race with good form. Likes to race from off the pace. Not to be ignored. GO INDIGO has good form but tends to fade late. LOUVRE is a good pace setter and has won this C & D on two occasions.
SELECTIONS: 1st - JET IN THE SKY * (11); 2nd - DEMANDING LADY (9); 3rd - SAUCY SAVANNAH (12); 4th - GO INDIGO (2); 5th - LOUVRE (3)
RACE 8:Grade 1 Golden Horse Casino Sprint (R600 000) 1200m Bend
CASTLETHORPE (62/10) (Mark Bass/Karl Neisius) has been running on. Not only that he has won his last two which were both over the distance. Has to go close for the hat trick. LINK MAN (9/2) (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) may not have the best of current forms but one has to respect him as he is still unbeaten this C & D (3 from 3). Has not run since January and if at best will be running on. Ignore Mike De Kock at your own peril. WHAT A WINTER (5/2) (Mike Bass/Bernard Fayd'Herbe) has the form. Is classy but did not show in this race last year. Should give another good account of himself. DELAGO DELUXE (9/1) (Charles Laird/Anton Marcus) is never far behind but has a tendency to fade late. Has improved since changing stables. DEPARDIEU (12/1) (Dean Kannemeyer/Robbie Fradd) disappointed in the Drill Hall Stakes at Greyville last time. Should prefer being back over this distance. One that could surprise.
SELECTIONS: 1st - CASTLETHORPE * (5); 2nd - LINK MAN (3); 3rd - WHAT A WINTER (1); 4th - DELAGO DELUXE (10); 5th - DEPARDIEU (11)
RACE 9:MR 76 Hcp 1600m Bend
YER-MAAN (St John Gray/Francois Herholdt) improved by fourteen lengths last time when running on. Respect on that run. Not a strong field and a win here is possible. TIGER ATTACK (Geoff Woodruff/Marco Van Rensburg) is never too far back and was running on over shorter last time. DIRECTORATE has improved in his last two but could have more to find for the win. COCO STRIPES won by over four lengths at this track over shorter last time. Respect on that run. UP ABOVE (Sean Tarry) takes on stronger but his post maiden form is sound.
SELECTIONS: 1st - YER-MAAN * (5); 2nd - TIGER ATTACK (7); 3rd - DIRECTORATE (3); 4th - COCO STRIPES (6); 5th - UP ABOVE (10)
RACE 10:MR 76 Hcp (F & M) 1800m Bend
FLIGHT ZONE has won her last two (maiden and post maiden) after having done her best work late. Had good maiden form before that and looks to be the one to follow. PHI has gone a bit off form lately. Chance on earlier and better form. DANISH (St John Gray/Marco Van Rensburg) is never too far back but has yet to place in five starts at this track. BRANDY NAN (Michael Azzie) is never too far off them, when in the mood. Otherwise inconsistent. WALEY'S CAMP has faced stronger. Has an apprentice claim of 4kg off the 60kg she is set to carry.
SELECTIONS: 1st - FLIGHT ZONE * (5); 2nd - PHI (7); 3rd - DANISH (3); 4th - BRANDY NAN (2); 5th - WALEY'S CAMP (1)
