Caviar "bright" following arrival

Black Caviar's vet Peter Angus reports the Australian superstar to be "as bright as a button" after touching down in England on Thursday.

Peter Moody's mare arrived at Heathrow following a 30-hour flight from Melbourne and soon made the journey to Jane Chapple-Hyam's yard in Newmarket.

She will be based at Headquarters until she bids for her 22nd victory from as many starts in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 23.

Angus, who accompanied Black Caviar on her flight, along with Moody's assistant Tony Haydon and work rider Pat Bell, said: "She's very bright.

"After a journey like this they can be so tired that sometimes their eyes are dulled, but she's as bright as a button. She seems to have eaten and drunk on the flight and is in very good condition.

"She doesn't look to have lost much weight, looking over her hindquarters. The next couple of days will tell but she seems very settled and relaxed," he told www.theage.com.au.

Moody himself remains on the other side of the world, but was pleased with the frequent overnight phone updates from the travelling team.

"That is what I think is the hard part of the trip out of the way," Moody told radio RSN.

"Obviously the next 24 hours is quite crucial also as to how she settles and everything, but she takes most things in her stride so I'm pretty confident she's got through that part of the trip well.

"She was a little tucked up there last night but nothing too bad. The vets were very happy with her feed and fluid intake on the trip. She had a bit of a walk and (was) straight into her feed, a bit of water, a bit of hay and a good night's sleep I'd imagine."
