Moonlight Cloud ran out a very impressive winner of the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville for the second successive year.
Freddie Head's filly, who came so close to becoming the first horse to beat the legendary Black Caviar in the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot, absolutely hacked up.
Settled just off the quarters of The Cheka, who attempted to make all for Eve Johnson Houghton in the Group One, Thierry Jarnet made a positive move a furlong and a half out and Moonlight Cloud quickly put daylight between herself and the chasing pack, and the race was over.
Wizz Kid made late headway to finish second, five lengths adrift, while The Cheka crossed the line fourth, just behind American Devil, but was promoted to third after the latter was judged to have caused interference.
Johnson Houghton tweeted: "Not quite a gold, but he got on the podium with a bronze medal! Clever Cheka. Still proud! Go Team GB."
