Horse of the Year title goes to....

The Equus Award took place at the Emperors Palace again this year, the first was in 2001. The highlight as always was the horse of the year title which this year went to the champion miler, Variety Club. (Pictured: Joey and Fiona Ramsden with the Variety Club awards)

The Joey Ramsden trained colt was in awesome form for the season in review winning three sets of guineas at each of the graded levels and stood out amongst an outstanding year of three year olds as well as a host of very good older horses. The other standout performer at the ceremony was Mike Bass's star sprinter, What A Winter; he won two awards.

Ato's win in Singapore's Krisflyer Sprint was recognised with Maine Chance winning a special award for this breeding achievement.
