The 2012 winner of the Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby), Deep Brillante (3-year-old colt, trained by Yoshito Yahagi) has been retired.
Deep Brillante will stand stud duty at Shadai Stallion Station in Hokkaido.
Yoshito Yahagi: "It's a terrible shame that the fans won't be able to see him race again. But, considering that he is a Thoroughbred athlete, I believe it is important that he be retired. The little more than a year that I spent with this horse has been like a dream and for me he was nothing short of a treasure. The dream of winning overseas is one I will entrust to his sons and daughters and I ask for your support of them at the racecourse."
