The CAPTAIN AL son, PEP TALK, makes his debut. Should be good enough to earn something. TIME BANDIT made a moderate debut when unfancied. May improve. BRAD'S SURGE improved by many lengths in his second start last time. Place chance.

IMPRESA is holding form well and will be running on. Is C & D suited. DECAMERON usually runs on and should be a factor. NATIONAL ROAD could be improving again. FORESTATION takes a huge drop in class. REIGN VICTORIOUS is in good form but never appreciated the shorter trip last time.

RACE 6: Syringa Handicap (Listed) (R150 000) 1600m Bend

The way in which MARGOT ON STAGE ran on strongly to win last time suggests that she could win again. Is unfancied at 12/1. CHECCETTI also won well last time. That was on Champions Day in a feature. Has the credentials to win again. QUEEN'S COMMAND was not out-gunned in the Empress Club last time. Chance on that run. BLUROUTE won well last time but this should be stronger opposition. SAUCY SAVANNAH has been weakening of late. has more to find.

RACE 7: Mr 64 Hcp (F & M) 1800m Bend

ROYAL WINGS ran on well last time and could be improving again. THE OAKS has steady form and was running on when returning from a three-month lay off. VIDEO GAMES is inconsistent. Runs on and is C & D suited. GLAMAZON has more to find but has a chance at best. BERMUDA BOWL tends to weaken.

RACE 8:Golden Horse Sprint Handicap 1200m Straight

This should be a competitive race. SNOWDON (Ormond Ferraris/Nooresh Juglall) finished second in this race last year. Current form is very good and he will be running on at the business end. Last time she beat DESERT SHEIK (Mike De Kock/Muzi Yeni) by a head was unlucky last time as he stumbled but still managed a strong finish. SNOWDON meets DESERT SHEIK on a ½kg better terms. On paper this means that SNOWDON should still have the beating of DESERT SHEIK. That stumble last time by DESERT SHEIK could reverse that order but it should be desperately close again. NORTHERN EMPEROR (Charles Laird/Anton Marcus) is distance suited and will be right there if running on. COPPER PARADE has very good PE form. Could be out of his depth. Is the rank outsider in the field. PE horses can sometimes cause an upset on major feature race days. Not out of it! CAPE ROYAL (Dean Kannemeyer/Karl Neisius) is classy. He is a weak ante post favourite at 6/1. He will be finishing well and were he to win this sprint, it would not come as any surprise.

RACE 9: MR 86 Hcp 1800m Bend

MASTER SABINA has won his last three. Could be worth following until beaten. Rises in class abut could be too classy. RIGHT TO TANGO has consistent form and will be running on. INDIAN STRIKER has excellent form. Goes this far for the first time. Should enjoy the extra trip. D G'S BOY will be running on and current form is excellent. Not out a chance of winning. PYLON has impressive but mostly on sand.

VIVA LA VIE has run third in her last three starts. Should be the one to beat. Stays on. QUANTUM LEAP ran her best race in twenty five last time. ASIATIC PEARL has improved in her last two. Place chance.  MADAM ARABIA has improved in her last two. Did stay on last time. AUTUMN ROSE ran her best race last time when running on.
