ANTONIUS DU BOIS EDGES LANGERMAN BATTLE

Antonius Du Bois (SAF) fought on well under pressure to capture the Gr 3 Langerman over 1500m at Kenilworth on Saturday, seeing off the late attentions of Jungle Skyline (SAF). Lastbutnotleast (SAF) stayed on for third ahead of Juddering Angel.

Captain Magpie was the first to show but eventually settled in second as Antonius Du Bois went out to lead. Paolo raced in third ahead of Juddering Angel, Jungle Skyline and Lastbutnotleast as Tiger Island and Sunday Sun brought up the rear.

Captain Magpie moved in quickly to tackle Antonius Du Bois in the straight but could not sustain his effort and was soon shaken off. Lastbutnotleast also moved into contention with Juddering Angel having to be shaken up before responding but Antonius Du Bois continued to find more, keeping them at bay. Jungle skylline produced a final flourish but, although closing fast, could not get to the long-time leader.

The Glen Kotzen-trained (pictured) Antonius Du Bois looks promising enough, having followed up two placed efforts with two victories from as many starts. He's provided an early boost to his British-bred sire Antonius Pius and showed a good attitude under pressure, suggesting that he will go on from here.
