READYTOGORIGHTNOW CONTINUES UPWARD CURVE IN WINTER CLASSIC

Readytogorightnow (AUS) underscored the merit of his recent Winter Guineas victory with a comfortable win in the second leg of the Winter Triple Crown, the Gr 3 Winter Classic run over 1800m at Kenilworth on Saturday. Ze Kaiser (SAF) ran on well for second ahead of Awesome Power (SAF) and Parker (SAF).

Parker went out to make the running, with True Master and Awesome Power disputing second place. Readytogorightnow  raced alongside favourite King Of Pain as Paterfamilias and Ze Kaiser brought up the rear.

Parket kept plugging away in the straight as the field quickly bunched up. Awesome Power looked the immediate threat as True Master started to weaken. King Of Pain went for his run down the inside but it became clear that the acceleration he had shown in some of his previous starts was not forthcoming.

Readytogorightnow , meanwhile, was travelling sweetly between horses and once Glen Hatt eased him into the lead entering the last furlong, it was race over as the son of  More Than Ready kicked clear to win by just over a length.

Readytogorightnow had upset King Of Pain in the Winter Guineas but once again found himself playing second fiddle to his rival in the betting. As it turned out, he confirmed the Guineas form in no uncertain terms, placing himself in line for a tilt at the Winter Triple Crown and continuing the red-hot streak of trainer Justin Snaith (pictured).

Ze Kaiser ran on well at the end, suggesting his next win could be around the corner if the right race can be found for him, while Awesome Power and Parker stayed on well enough after having been up with the pace throughout.
