RACE 1: Workriders Maiden Plate 1200m Straight
OWLS DO CRY (Dennis Drier) has the form to win this opener but one needs to be a bit wary of the workriders race. IN FULL FLO sets a good pace but weakens late. Current form is good though. LINDABA also shows good early pace but doesn't finish with the same enthusiasm. COUNTING HOUSE (Charles Laird) showed some improvement over his previous effort last time. Not to be ignored. NOBLE FLIGHT has shown nothing but there was a glimpse of some life last time when he improved by sixteen lengths.
1st – OWLS DO CRY (0.6/1 F) (1); 2nd – IN FULL FLO (9); 3rd – LINDABA (3); 4th - COUNTING HOUSE (2); 5th – NOBLE FIGHT (8)
RACE 2: Maiden Juvenile Plate (F) 1200m Straight
SPORTTORIO (Mike Bass) has had two promising runs. Had she not been baulked at the 400m mark last time she may have won at 16/1. Finished a respectable third over this C & D that day. The one to beat. Also be aware of a 4kg apprentice claim! LOVE FROM AL (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) made a good debut when starting as 9/10 favourite last time. Has to improve this afternoon and could go close if living up to that favouritism shown in her that day. YOU BEAUTY races handy and has three good runs from four starts. SUMMERTIME has run on in her last three starts. Definitely needs to be considered. SPIAGGIA raced green on debut. Could show the most improvement.
1st – SPORTTORIO (4/1 F) (15); 2nd – LOVE FROM AL (6); 3rd – YOU BEAUTY (20); 4th - SUMMERTIME (16); 5th – SPIAGGIA (14)
RACE 3: Maiden Plate (F & M) 1600m Bend
TATIANA (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) has finished two "less than a length" fourth and second in her two starts respectively. Another stride last time and she would have won over the same distance. Has obvious claims. COSTLY ROMANCE has had two very good runs in her last two and should challenge again. MISS HILTON could be back in form. Apprentice claims 4kg. Was finishing very fast last time. TAKE OFF (Dennis Drier/Sean Cormack) showed some small improvement last time in her second career start. Fancy trainer and jockey combination rather than the form of the filly. A two-year-old taking on older fillies and mares should be extremely tough! MADAME TIGRE (Sean Tarry) has shown improvement in her last two. Place chance at best. Add MISS MIRREN for the scratched horse.
1st – TATIANA (1/1 F) (9); 2nd – COSTLY ROMANCE (1); 3rd – MISS HILTON (2); 4th - TAKE OFF (10); 5th – MADAME TIGRE (7)
RACE 4: Maiden Plate (F & M) 2000m Bend
ASCOT CHARM has a chance on her last two vastly improved efforts when running on. Has placed this C & D. ROY'S ROYALTY may have a chance in this field if finding a strong finish. Anthony Delpech rides for the first time. RED ROCK LADY shows good early speed but has been weakening late. BLACK DYNAMITE has only placed over this distance, once at this track. Needs to repeat penultimate start to win. STORM COAST has steady form but has yet to show that she could win this event. Would be a surprise. Kevin Shea rides though! Add TEGAN'S DREAM for the scratching.
1st – ASCOT CHARM (5/1) (3); 2nd – ROY'S ROYALTY (2.8/1 JF) (2); 3rd – RED ROCK LADY (2.8/1 JF) (1); 4th - BLACK DYNAMITE (6); 5th – STORM COAST (5)

RACE 5: Pinnacle Stakes 2500m Bend
DUBAI GINA (Vaughan Marshall/MJ Byleveld) was not disgraced when she finished third, five lengths behind RIVER CROSSING. May have needed the run that day. Has her regular jockey this afternoon. Should go close with that run under her belt. Takes on the "boys". BLACK WING has been improving since moving back to the Paul Gadsby yard. Showing good finishes and he has a good chance, especially with 4kg off the 60kg set to carry. CANTERBURY TALE (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) won the Gold Bowl at Turffontein last time when running on to beat SEAL. Has to have a good chance. AIR PATROL takes on stronger. Place chance with an effective 46kg on his back. JEPPE'S REEF (Mike Bass/Sean Cormack) was not disgraced when finishing a close up fourth in the Lonsdale last time. Tends to fade though.
1st – DUBAI GINA (1/1 F) (5); 2nd – BLACK WING (1); 3rd – CANTERBURY TALE (3); 4th - AIR PATROL (7); 5th – JEPPE'S REEF (2)
RACE 6: MR 74 Hcp 1600m Bend
VIENNA WOOD has excellent form. Has finished strongly in his last three for two wins and a neck second. Should be right up there again this afternoon. TARGET FIVE was returning from a three month break last time. Ran on strongly that day and for once broke on terms. Could continue improving. CHISLER has steady form and was closing in slowly last time. FURAAT QUALITY was returning from a four month break last time. Is a C & D winner. Should be ready to improve once again. KEY WORD (Sean Tarry) could be best over this trip. Money chance.
1st – VIENNA WOOD (3.5/1 F) (3); 2nd – TARGET FIVE (12); 3rd – CHISLER (5); 4th - FURAAT QUALITY (1); 5th – KEY WORD (9)
RACE 7: Conditions Plate (F & M) 1100m Straight
ENCHANTING CATHY (Mike Bass/Stuart Randolph) showed excellent improvement last time when finishing strongly over 1000m. Looks to be coming back in to form. JACKODORE (Sean Tarry/Anthony Delpech) has run against the top sprinters in the country in her last two, namely WHAT A WINTER and VIA AFRICA. Was not disgraced in those two Grade 1 Sprints and should go close in this event. REASON TO BELIEVE may improve over this trip. Moderate form. PINK MARTINI (Duncan Howells/Alec Forbes) was unlucky in her latest run when baulked 300m out and was baulked again with only 100m to go. Still managed to run on. Takes on stronger. CHOIR MAIDEN has fair form and should benefit from the 4kg apprentice allowance.
1st – ENCHANTING CATHY (8/1) (9); 2nd – JACKODORE (2.2/1 F) (1); 3rd – REASON TO BELIEVE (8); 4th - PINK MARTINI (3); 5th – CHOIR MAIDEN (7)
RACE 8: Durban Dash (3-Year-Olds) (R150 000) 1100m Straight
CAPE ROYAL (Dean Kannemeyer/Karl Neisius) has had his problems at the start of his last two runs. It is important to know that he wears the blinkers for the first time. Is a top class sprinter and it was disappointing to see him refuse to jump last time and the time before he lost ground. One can expect far better from him this afternoon at the track where he won the 600m dash on the last day of March. TINCHY STRYDER (Sean Tarry) is unbeaten after two starts. Has not run since October. Looked to be promising in both starts in Gauteng. Has only 51 kg to carry. DESERT SHEIK (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) was not disgraced in the Grade 1 Golden Horse Sprint last time. One to respect in this race. WAY CLEAR (Justin Snaith/Muzi Yeni) has very good PE form. May have more to find. TEVEZ (Mike Bass/Bernard Fayd'Herbe) has not shown his best form in KZN. Always a danger.
1st – CAPE ROYAL (3/1 F) (1); 2nd – TINCHY STRYDER (10); 3rd – DESERT SHEIK (2); 4th - WAY CLEAR (5); 5th – TEVEZ (3)
RACE 9: MR 86 Hcp 1000m Straight
INDIAN CONNECTION has not run since early February. Has a very good finish and loves this C & D: 4(1-2-0). The apprentice allowance of 4kg should assist. THRESHOLD ran on last time when showing good improvement. Has improved in his last two with blinkers. They go on again today. Another 4kg claim for an apprentice. MR WHATEVER has won his last three. In top form before his four month break. Will be finishing well. Drops in class. KING'S JET returned to winning ways last time but has a far tougher task this afternoon. KRACKERJACK ACE has steady form against stronger but tends to fade late on. Place chance at best though. Add LAST SHOT for the scratchings.
1st – INDIAN CONNECTION (5/1) (5); 2nd – THRESHOLD (3.5/1 F) (4); 3rd – MR WHATEVER (1); 4th - KING'S JET (8); 5th – KRACKERJACK ACE (2)
RACE 10: MR 74 Hcp (F & M) 1000m Straight
TULLYNALLY took twenty runs to break her maiden after some consistent form. Ran a very good post maiden when running on last time. An apprentice claim of 4kg will assist. C & D suited. Stable companion, GREEN LINE, is also in good form and finished strongly to win over this distance at Greyville. Is also C & D suited. COTSWOLD is in good form but fades late after setting a very good pace. RASHULI BREEZE (Duncan Howells) did not show against stronger last time. Stable companion, CUP OF RUBIES, also tires late but could be the stable elect with Alec Forbes aboard. Respect the ante post favourite, NETSUKE, who has Anthony Delpech aboard and has had two good post maiden runs.
1st – TULLYNALLY (5.5/1) (12); 2nd – GREEN LINE (8); 3rd – COTSWOLD (6); 4th - RASHULI BREEZE (2); 5th – CUP OF RUBIES (1); FAVOURITE - NETSUKE (5/1 F) (5)
