A bumper Good Friday meeting with some very nice races to close what should have been a very good days racing.
Some handy Poly sprinters get their chance to show if they can step up in Class this campaign when they meet in a BM83 event over 1200m (race 8).
FLASH GIFT heads the ratings and as such has the top weight, but connections are happy to keep Davey Flores on-board and the combination could be hard to beat despite some 59kg.
The five-time winner - four on the Poly - won a similar affair two back and while he has some 4.5kg more to carry, he looks good enough to continue his good vein of form.
ONE SMART CAT - with a handy 3kg S Noh claim - looks the main danger and the two top-rated horses could provide a grandstand finish in what is a very good race.
Race nine on the card is on the turf (long course E) and sees some of the best sprinter/milers head to the starter in a Kranji Stakes A event over 1400m.
RED BEARD heads the ratings but has been out of form this campaign which opens the doors for the likes of last start winner HOT GOLD, SIR LOVESALOT and even BORN TO FLY who rarely wins but rarely runs a bad race.
WHAT NOW first-up also looks an option in what is an even race and good luck for those chasing the exotics.
Best Bets; FLASH GIFT (race 8, win), WHAT NOW (race 9, each-way) and MEAISIN (race 11, each-way).
Bankers for Jackpots: Race 8 (1, 2 and 4), race 9 (2, 3, 5, 6 and 7), race 10 (2, 5, 6, 11 and 12), race 11 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6).

RACE 8: OPEN BENCHMARK 83 - 1200M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 16:25 PRIZE MONEY: S$100000
Larry says, "A good BM83 over 1200m on the poly with those at the top of the weights looking a Class above the rest. FLASH GIFT won two starts back in a similar race, he never runs badly and with David Flores up will give a bold sight again. CORONET PEAK drops back to a more suitable distance and meets FLASH GIFT 3.5kg better for a 2.3 length defeat two starts back; Alan Munro stays on and he should get every chance. ONE SMART CAT won in KSC company three starts back over 1200m, he will appreciate the poly and the claim for Noh Senari - he should be handy all the way. JOYOUS EXPRESS is a useful galloper resuming and whilst his best form is over longer, he has Manoel Nunes and is trialing well - watch for support; the stablemate CODIGO ran on well over 1000m when resuming and is smart when right. Of the others TOUCH OF GOLD just battled last start but will appreciate getting on the poly and over 1200m."

RACE 9: KRANJI STAKES A (SET WEIGHTS) - 1400M COURSE E (LC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 17:00 PRIZE MONEY: S$125000
Larry says, "A KSA and as is often the case in 1400m races, Cliff Brown holds a strong hand with HOT GOLD who he has won five times at 1400m, got a gun run last outing when resuming and despite the rider dropping the whip held off a number of these to win narrowly. HOT GOLD's stablemate WHAT NOW is resuming and is a six-time winner over 1400m and often races well fresh. He has the class to test most in this field. Amongst the beaten brigade behind HOT GOLD last start were SIR LOVESALOT who gets the pacifiers and Corey Brown. He will have benefited from his recent trial and being slightly better off at the weights should make a bid. SPEEDY CAT was also not far away, he has won much better races than this and comes in with a handy claim and is quite capable of swamping the field late. BORN TO FLY was in the same race, he ran on well and with a 1.5kg swing in the weights should be in the finish again."

RACE 10: CLASS 5 (2) - 1400M COURSE E (LC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 17:30 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
Larry says, "A dreadful Class 5 over 1400m on turf with only three of the runners having winning form on the surface and most of the field being battling maidens. MAGNIFICENT KID is one of those having won over 1600m on turf, he has been close up at his past two poly starts and should race well. SPARKLING STAR is a maiden but was placed two starts back in similar grade, he can be a risk at the start but if Dan Beasley can get him away, he could be hard to hold out. WALTZ is another maiden who battles away and the engagement of Corey Brown helps. Both HERBS 'N' SPICES and MY TRICIA are on the quick back-up after disappointing performances last week, these conditions may be more suitable though it is one of these races that anything could win."

RACE 11: CLASS 4 (2) - 1400M COURSE E (LC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 18:00 PRIZE MONEY: S$60000
Larry says, "A Class 4 over 1400m on turf finishes thing off with a couple of steady performers against Class droppers and one on the way up. SUPER SHADOW is consistent, has been close up at his past three starts and Noh Senari should give him every chance. HOFBURG PALACE also rarely runs a bad race and ground away over 1200m when resuming; with Manoel Nunes up the 1400m may be more suitable. WARSPIRIT drops in Grade, he was not far away at his last outing in Class 3; with a claim for Willie Tan he is versatile enough to enjoy 1400m on turf. MEAISIN has won twice at 1400m and will appreciate dropping into Class 4 and also benefits from a claim for Tengku Rehaizat. ZEDKAAR is an improver, he has done little wrong in three starts culminating in a maiden win over 1200m on the poly; this is harder but he should race well. FARETTI is also worth a look as he had issues last start and his form prior has him winning soon."
