PREVIEW:CLAIRWOOD - 2 AUGUST 2014

The son and daughter of TRIPP, POLAR TRIP and TRIPANDIE respectively look the best of those that have run before. One needs to take into account that the first timer, SABRE EDGE, has been priced up as favourite. Keep an eye on any betting moves. ROMAN SILVANUS also makes his debut along with the son of DYNASTY, DYNASTY'S GIFT.

SHE'S A STUNNER takes on the boys again. Ran a good race last time when running on this C & D. Has won this C & D before. Consider this afternoon. GUANTANAMERA did get going over shorter last time. Not too reliable but in a six horse field must have a chance. FLYFIRSTCLASS has run well in two features this C & D. My problem is that he has been weakening ever so late. INSPECTOR CASEY enjoys this C & D and has a shout. COFFEE SHEIK shows good speed but weakens.

BLACK JAGUAR is a weak choice in a desperately weak field. Most of the jockeys on show in this race will be unknown to many of the racegoers in this country. KINGS GOLD is nine years old has a chance on his latest run. The rest could battle it out for third and jockeyship could be the key to the outcome of this race as most of them have very little to work with! Watch this race from the stands!

This race appears to be a race between RODEO DREAM and IMBUTA CASTRUM. The favourite OLMA must be respected but she weakens and has done so in each race to date. Anton Marcus could make a difference. RODEO DREAM ran on well last time over shorter. That was her best race in six starts. IMBUTA CASTRUM has run well in her last three starts. Should be a threat. CHALCEDONY showed very good improvement in her second run last time. Further improvement could be expected. ICEOLITE improved last time without the blinkers.

AUCTION KING takes quite a drop in class and has been finishing well. Must go close at this level. Stable companion, DOUBLE CLUTCH, ran a cracker last time. Must have a very good chance of going all the way. DUN CARRER could be improving again. Good finish last time. NIGHT LOCK finished well last time but has yet to show in nine runs at this track. MOUNTAIN MASTER weakened slightly last time but that was against slightly stronger.

DIVINE WIND showed excellent improvement in her second start last time. Could go close if repeating that run. DJEMBE JAMMING is never far back and has been finishing well. CHICACHERRYCOLA could be improving. Second run after a lengthy break. Yard off form. COCO LOVE showed good improvement last time but on the polytrack. One to watch. VARLOTONE has weakened in both starts to date. May improve with Anton Marcus aboard. My original selection for fifth was HULLO LILY who looks to have some improvement to come.

HYAKU made a good debut last time. Should improve. Finished well that day. Include. PIONEER SPIRIT has finished second in both starts but has weakened in both. BOLD ATTITUDE runs on and should be in the mix. UMLEEU last ran in April. Last two were way below par. May improve but could also need a run. MFUYI could the biggest improver in this field.

PHONETIC is never far back and she will be doing her best work late. Has won this C & D. SUGAR PIE has won this C & D but last run on the polytrack was not a true reflection of her true ability. SAKANIA has been weakening but this has been her best C & D: 7(2-2-2). COUSIN ANNIE weakened in her post maiden last time but that was after a debut run the run before that. Give a chance. CARIBBEAN DREAM didn't show last time but may prefer further. GUEST EL GRANDE has weak form but has been running against stronger.

MATER ARCHER runs for the first time since February. May improve after gelding. KELIKOTE EXPRESS is holding form very well. Will be doing best work late. Has won this C & D. AL CIBERANO was moderate against stronger last time and with the blinkers on. They come off today. CHESHIRE CAT is never too far away but weakens late on. PETER PIPER has more to find but could improve to place.

FLYING LOOT will be doing her best work late. Penultimate start was in a Grade 1. BOMI ran on well in her debut which was this C & D last time. Should fight this out. HEARTFELT showed very good improvement in her second start last time. Was also this C & D. PRINCESS STEPHANIE showed good speed when improving last time. Weakened late. SILFRA has shown improvement in each of her three runs to date.
