Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes is the undoubted highlight of Friday, the third day of the Welcome to Ebor Yorkshire Festival and boasts international flavour with South Africa represented.

The Mike de Kock trained Shea Shea, second in last year’s race, will fly the flag for South Africa.

The seven-year-old has also been placed in three of Britain’s top sprint races – namely the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes, Group 1 July Cup and indeed the Nunthorpe Stakes, when beaten half a length by outsider Jalwa in the 2013 renewal.
Sole Power looks the star turn among the 15 speedsters and comes here following his easy win in the King’s Stand at Royal Ascot.

Not bouncing with confidence, trainer Eddie Lynam said: “My gut feeling is that he may not be quite in the same form as he was before Royal Ascot, but he is coming back to himself day by day so we will take him to York hopeful rather than confident”.

Take Cover is this season’s most progressive sprinter and was not beaten far by Sole Power at Ascot before following up with wins at York and Gooodwood. He steps back up in class.
