PREVIEW: KENILWORTH - 23 AUGUST 2014

Watch the betting on all the first timers. UNCLE JIM, DUKE DESA and IMPERIAL GUARD make their debuts and could be worth following. Of those that have run, WINTER TRADE is slow and weakens while DOWNTON ABBEY has had two very moderate runs.

HELIANE may have won on debut last time but received interference in the race. Was also slow away but finished well. Could be the one. NAZIRA makes her debut. Daughter of ARGONAUT, DANCE IN THE WOODS also makes her debut. Keep an eye on the betting. SHAKESPEARE'S LADY has more to find but trainer and jockey could hold the key. SAINT MARY is a five year old debutant.

EXCLUSIVE KNIGHT has finished better in his last two starts. CASTLE is improving nicely and two strong finishes have been impressive. REBEL HOUSE has been steady in his last three starts. Money chance. ILLINOIS improved last time. Money chance on that effort. IMPRESSIONIST could still be improving.

MIGHTY LUCK has very moderate form but could cause an upset if repeating her run of three runs back. The extra might suit. EXOTIC JET has work to do but fancy trainer and jockey combination. SHINGLE BEACH generally runs well and has always had a shout. ROUGE BERRY has more to find but may improve. LEBOMBO BREEZE showed some improvement in her second start last time.

SAINT SOPHIA drops sharply in class and should do well in this division. MIDNIGHT MAGENTA ran on well to win her maiden at the eighth attempt last time. May need to confirm. THE QUEEN VIC was running on late last time when showing improvement. LONDON THEATRE also did good work late last time. Don't ignore. DAVYANA could also be improving. Respect the favourite BEULAH.

This should be a competitive race with two horses fighting it out. M'LORDS THROAT takes on slightly stronger but form could see her through. Finishes well. JOHNNY ROCKETS is never far back and will also be running on. Has won against stronger. TITUS has not won for a while but is never too far back. SURRUPTITIOUS drops in class and is well weighted. BAROSSA VALLEY is holding form well.

DRESSED IN COTTON is steady but hasn't won in ages. Did stay on well last time. Could improve further. CAP ALRIGHT takes on slightly stronger but is not well weighted. Form is fair. THE WEST IS WIDE runs in Cape Town for the first time in a while. Campaigned in KZN where he faced s few stronger fields. TWENTYMANJONES ran on well last time but takes on stronger. The light mass could bring him right into the race with a winning chance. FLASH DRIVE can place at best.

WISE GEEK may have a chance if confirming the improvement last time. Ran on well last time. ZINNAVAR ran his first two runs in Durban. Won on debut and then finished only a length behind the excellent colt, AFRIKABURN, in second. Must go close. BREAK MY HEART won his maiden at the third attempt last time. That was a very good win. AFRICAN FISH EAGLE is never far back and don't ignore. HEADSTRONG HARRY has had his problems. Chance if showing the necessary improvement.
