PREVIEW: DURBANVILLE - 20 SEPTEMBER 2014

RACE 1

There are a number of well-bread first timers in this race. I like the look of PANGA PANGA. Keep an eye on the betting, parade ring and canter pass of all first timers. BUFFALO TRIP has a chance on a vastly improved third run. JUDD'S JOY also showed good improvement second time around when running on. KING'S DYNASTY and BONO VOX also make their debuts. Betting should be your best guide.

RACE 2

JET SET GO is unbeaten after two starts. Should win a few more. HIGHLY DECORATED ran well in two features in Durban during the Winter Season and is the main threat to JET SET GO. LADY GRACA won her maiden in fine style last time, but that was at the fifth attempt. Moderate form before that. IN LIMINE tends to weaken but consider for places. HURRICANE WIND is the last of five horses in the race!

RACE 3

BELLE ON ICE makes her debut and is one of three Dean Kannemeyer horses in the race. I'm siding with the jockey selection. Stable companion, STACKED BY SEATTLE is well bred and the progeny of SAIL FROM SEATTLE have been enjoying great success in recent times. KING'S KITTEN probably has the form to win but jockey off form. The third Dean Kannemeyer runner, BLACK BELVEDERE ran on well last time. Place prospect. HAZELNUT has shown little. Upset for the places?

RACE 4

PARACHUTE MAN has shown a liking for this course. Last two runs have been vastly improved and he ran on really strongly last time. Strong chance. GALAO improved by eight lengths in his second start last time. Respect. STORM FAERIE did stay on last time. Good value for the p,aces. ICE STYLE has shown modest improvement in his last two. More to find for the win. BIG ED is not without hope on latest two efforts.

RACE 5

ARION comes off a lengthy break. Good form before the break and should go close. There are bound to be enough challengers. TOP JET has finished never too far behind LEGISLATE, National Horse of the Year, twice in two Grade 1 features in Durban during the Winter Season. DOUBLE WHAMMY looks promising and has won two from three. This is stronger but one to watch! SOLAR STAR has been gelded since his latest effort in July. Decent form before break. REIM takes on stronger and was a shock winner against weaker last time.

RACE 6

MYSTERIO finished strongly in her last two to win. Latest win was against slightly stronger. Good chance. HARVARD CRIMSON has excellent form and she has won her last three starts. Looks to have quite a few more wins still in the tank. SPEED MERCHANT could be finding form again. Finished well last time. SWANNEE ROSE was rewarded for consistency last time when dead heating after a late rattle.

RACE 7

GOTHIC has won in a while but he has been racing in Grade 1 races in Durban during the past season. Chance if at best. PUTNEY FLYER takes on slightly stronger this afternoon but he did move up late last time. DOUBLE SWIRL is holding form and has beaten A division fields before. TOBE'S FIRST may have a mountain to climb as he takes on way stronger. Respectable current form. MANX MISSILE also has a bit more to find.

RACE 8

MAGICAL BET won well against stronger last time. First time this track but form should be good enough to give him a chance. SPRING CHERRY was running on late last time. COUNT MY LUCK got going late last time. CAPTAIN'S ORDERS won his maiden at the fifth attempt last time. Good two maiden runs before the win. May need to confirm though. ARACHNE has the ability to pop up at any time. Weakened last time.
