AMBLEWAY NEWSLETTER END SEPTEMBER 2014

The KZN AWARDS dinner was organized at the Elangeni Hotel and Gill Simpkins and her team from Gold Circle did an amazing job. The entertainment was great and we were delighted with the awards of which Ambleway was associated.

On the human side we need to congratulate both Dennis Drier and Duncan Howells for being voted the Champion Trainers at Summerveld and Ashburton respectively. This is the second year running that these two trainers have won these coveted awards and we are very proud to be associated with them both.

Duncan was also the KZN Champion Trainer -having the most wins in the province-he was awarded with the Ernie Duffield Memorial Trophy. This was an amazing achievement for him and his whole team –congratulations to all of those who helped make it possible!

We were honoured to have two horses win awards that were graduates of Ambleway : SAME JURISDICTION and BEACH BEAUTY.

SAME JURISDICTION won the Champion Two year Old Filly Award and made up for some of the controversy surrounding this award at the Equus awards! Her connections must have been so happy that she was recognised for her achievements......

BEACH BEAUTY was nominated for plenty awards and she won the Champion Older Filly award –it is very sad that she is no longer racing as she was so loved by the racegoers of the province . She will no doubt be happy to be at Drakenstein Stud where she has been covered by Duke Of Marmalade and has been tested in foal. All her supporters can now follow her in the next phase of her career!

We have been proud to be associated with graduates who have been responsible for winning doubles at Scottsville.....GENERALISSIMO and KINGS ARCHER followed by EASY LOVER and SARATOGA DANCER.

They were also trained by top conditioners at Summerveld - Dennis
Drier(GENERALISSIMO) and Duncan Howells from Ashburton, who trained the other three horses! Congratulations to all of their connections.

Ian van Schalkwyk has been a lucky owner and he has won with KINGS ARCHER, a son of A P Arrow as well as EASY LOVER whom Ian owns with Gerard Scholtz. This colt by Right Approach, won a sprint race beating home some useful older sprinters and is definitely going places!

Duncan trained SARATOGA DANCER who won his maiden for Rod and Jane Trotter, Duncan himself, Rick Nidd and Gary Westwater. This son of Mambo In Seattle ran a good debut on the polytrack, and followed up by winning here as a short priced favourite –he was definitely the talk of the town! His team of connections are aiming him at The Ready To Run Cup at Turffontein in November as he was purchased last year at the Sale in Gauteng.

The Drier yard must have been very pleased with the manner in which GENERALISSIMO won his race, their view of him being a good horse looks vindicated as he has now won 2 from 3 starts and was only just beaten in his debut. He runs for owners Nic and Benji Jonsson a very proud father and son relationship! He heads off to Cape Town now and we hold thumbs for all of his connections being a son of Var he certainly is speedy!

MORHEUS won for Dom Zaki over 1450 meters. Well done to Knut Haug, as this was his first run in Gauteng, and he was successful!

We were also successful with IKATHI in PE over the sprint 0f 1200 meters. She won for Dorrie Sham who trains her for Mayesh Chetty.

Ambleway boasts several horses that should be successful soon.....
CHESTNUT CHARGER, THRESHOLD, ULTIMATE TIGER, HANDS OF STONE,GANESH, CAPTAINS ORDERS, NORGAY and INDIAN CONNECTION

We are busy at Ambleway schooling horses as well as sending into trainers those that are backed and in different stages of work.

The next letter we will focus on the Ready To Run horses that we at Ambleway are taking to Gauteng. They will be sold at the TBA Sale on Sunday 2nd November at Germiston. The draft will be galloping at Yellow Star Stud on Thursday 16th October and includes well bred horses from Nutfield Stud-Western Winters(3), Tiger Ridge (2), a Mambo In Seattle filly and a Horse Chestnut filly

Until then, enjoy the breeding season and your racing!

Kind Regards

Jane Trotter
