Lot 38: Colt By Western Winter
Eternal Ice – Colt by Western Winter x Easyjadeasy
“An athletic horse who keeps on improving and will go places!”
He is out of a mare that won 5 races including the Kenilworth Filly’s Nursery and was places in Graded races. She is a half sister to ELUSIVE FORT (7 Wins), the Champion Equus Male Stayer in 2006 having won from 1300-2400m and who is now a stallion. She comes from the famous Argentinian ‘E’-family of EPOQUE (6 Wins) ECURIE (10 Wins) - the ARCSA Champion 2 Year Old Filly in 1984, and “The Flying Machine” and “Galloping Goldmine”, EMPRESS CLUB (16 Wins), who was ARCSA Champion 2 Year Old Filly in 1990, Horse of the Year and Champion 3 Year Old Filly in 1991 and Champion Older Filly in 1992.
His dam has produced 100% Runners to Winners including the talented Eternal Jet (3 Wins) and Escondida (1 Win).
His sire WESTERN WINTER is one of the best stallions in SA history having produced at the time of his death more Gr1 Winners than any other stallion. He has been a Champion Sire on three Occasions in SA and has produced many champions including Horse of the Years Yard-Arm and Winter Solstice, Champion Sprinter What Winter and currently Cape Town Noir who is the 2014 Equus Champion Miler. He produces Champions over all distances! And this is his second to last crop…

Lot 45: Tiger Ridge Filly
Dearest Secret – Filly by Tiger Ridge x Gia’s Secret
“A spirited filly who is balanced and has good bone”
Her dam, Gia’s Secret, won 2 sprint races, was Stakes placed, and is a sister to Arabian Secret (2 Wins). She is from the family of HONOR AND GLORY (3 Wins), TOTALLY BOLD (8 Wins), SOUTH LAKE (8 Wins), CLASSIC HERO (8 Wins), BUCKARINA (8 Wins), and BOUND BY HONOR (16 Wins). The dam has successfully produced 4 out of 5 Winners including Sky Marshal (5 Wins).
His sire, TIGER RIDGE, was unraced as he was injured as a two year old in America. However his pedigree is very strong as he is by the leading sire Storm Cat out of the Broodmare Of The Year - Weekend Surprise. He is the brother to AP Indy and is related to top South African sire Al Mufti as well as Mambo in Seattle, Duke of Marmalade and current star Ruler of the World. At stud Tiger Ridge was a Champion Freshman Sire in Florida in 2006 and South Africa in 2010. He has produced a top sprinter who was exported to Dubai- Kavanagh, Summer Cup G1 winner Wagner, Triple Tiara winner Cherry on the Top and G2 KZN Guineas winner Maybe Yes. This is one of his last crops as he sadly passed on this year.

Her dam is from a truly internationally successful family which is full of bold black type. In France: Urmia (3 Wins), URGELE (4 Wins), and GUNBOAT DIPLOMACY (6 Wins). In Germany and Italy: WORLDWIDE (11 Wins) and in Germany: HEY LITTLE GIRL (3 Wins) - the Champion Stayer in 2013. In Argentina, RITON (9 Races) and Champion Older Horse in 1995 and VERY CHIC (7 Wins).

His dam IMPERIOUS SUE (6 Wins) belongs to a very rare class of broodmare being a G1 winner who has produced a G1 winner. She was the Champion ARCSA Older Female in 1997 having won the G1 J&B Met and is from the blue blooded family of CITY STATE (8 Wins), ROYAL AIR FORCE (4 wins) - who is now a stallion, HIDDEN BEAUTY (6 Wins), WILD HYACINTH (4 Wins), WILD COCKTAIL (10 Wins), KELLY (5 Wins; Equus Champion Older Male Stayer in 2001), VICTORY MOON (7 Wins; Horse Of The Year in UAE in 2000 and successful sire), and the truly international traveler IMBONGI (7 Wins in SA, GB and UAE).

Chestnuts ‘n Pearls - Filly by Horse Chestnut x Pearl Hostess
“A big filly with plenty of substance”
Her Dam is a winner over a mile and is well related being a half sister to POPULAR GIRL (5 Wins) and Birthday Belle (4 Wins), and comes from the family of PARTY TIME (9 Wins) who was also a Grade 1 Winner.
Pearl Hostess herself has produced 2 Winners already including GOLDEN DAWN (2 Wins) and Crest of Pearls (2 Wins).
Her sire, HORSE CHESTNUT was a son of a legendary stallion FORT WOOD. He himself was a superstar being a Champion 3 Year Old Horse and Horse of the Year in SA winning from 1000m-2400m. Among them included the Triple Crown, J&B Met Gr1 and the Cape Guineas Gr1. He has already produced a G1 winner in the USA and his start to stud in SA looks very promising with his first Crop including CHESTNUTS ROCKET, SILENT FORCE, DEMITASSE, and Rakes Chestnut who narrowly lost the prestigious G1 Daily News 2000.

His dam, Skyward Lady, won at 3 years and is a full sister to Seaboard (4 Wins).
She has come from the great SA Family of CERULEAN BLUE (9 Wins) ARCSA Champion 3 Year Old Filly in 1986. She was a full sister to GREY SUN (11 Wins), the ARCSA Champion 2 Year Old Filly in 1981 and the Champion 3 Year Old Filly in 1983 having won several graded races. The stallion RUSSIAN SAGE (6 Wins) (3 Gr1’s) comes from this line.

Tales of Mambo – Filly by Mambo in Seattle x Tales Of Magic
“A tall, athletic type with plenty of energy”
She is out of a mare that is by LECTURE and is from a family with plenty of black type, including MAGIC COAST (2 Wins), COASTAL NEWS (8 Wins), WHAT A JET (10 Wins), BIG SCRIPTURE (9 Wins), HAIL TO RULE (6 Wins), and PRIMARILY who was Broodmare of The Year in Canada, having produced Canadian Champion 2 Year Old Filly in 1997, PRIMALY (3 Wins), and POETICALLY (5 Wins) who was also the Champion 2 Year Old in Canada.
MAMBO IN SEATTLE won 4 races from 1400-1800m losing the prestigious G1 Travers Stakes by a nose after travelling wide throughout the race. He and is a brother to G1 winner and sire LEMON DROP KID, his dam being a sister to Champion 3 Year Old and World Leading Sire, AP Indy. He has been an impressive start to stud in SA having produced G1 winner SAME JURISDICTION in his first crop.
