2015 Inglis Premier Superhero Search Launched

Racetrack Superheroes are made at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and the 2015 edition of the champion making sale in Melbourne has been produced ready for research.

782 yearlings have been catalogued for Inglis Premier to be conducted at ‘Oaklands’, Melbourne from Sunday, 1 March to Wednesday, 4 March 2015. From this catalogue, buyers will be able to search for the next Inglis Premier Superhero like previous sale graduates Black Caviar, Fawkner, Trust In A Gust, Sacred Kingdom and Snitzerland.

“The Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in Melbourne has a proven record for unearthing champions on the racetrack and with the quality of the yearlings catalogued next year, I have no doubt that success will continue.”

“Premier has already produced two World Champion Sprinters as well as Horse of the Year winners in Australia, Hong Kong and South Africa.”
“The sale is ideally placed between the MRC Blue Diamond Stakes day and the VRC Australian Guineas, ensuring the week will be a feast of thoroughbred action for all racing and breeding enthusiasts” said Peter Heagney, Inglis Melbourne Bloodstock Director.

Fawkner was a $70,000 purchase for Nick and Lloyd Williams from the draft of Mill Park. The dual Group 1 winning son of Reset has netted $3.4 million and rising in his racetrack career.

The horse of steel, Trust In A Gust has amassed over $1 million in earnings from his ten career wins, including two Group 1 victories in the spring. This is a great return on the colt’s $45,000 price tag when purchased by Darren Weir Racing from the draft of Swettenham Stud.

Jet propelled Sacred Kingdom was a $200,000 Inglis Premier buy from the Kornong Stud Farm draft by Hong Kong trainer Ricky Yiu. The World Champion Sprinter son of Encosta de Lago is one of the best and most durable gallopers Asia has ever seen, winning 17 races for HK$45,831,144 in prizemoney.

Australia’s quickest Group 1 event, the VRC Lightning Stakes, has been the happy hunting ground for the Superheroes of Inglis Premier with Black Caviar winning three in a row, then Snitzerland winning the 2014 edition.

Snitzerland a $125,000 buy from Bellerive Stud’s draft in Melbourne, won $1.9million on the racetrack as a Group winner at two, three and four-years-of -age.

Black Caviar, the wonder from down under, was undefeated in 25 race starts including 15 at Group 1 level for $5 million in earnings. The three-time Australian Racehorse of the Year was a $210,000 purchase by Peter Moody from the draft of Swettenham Stud as agent for Gilgai at Inglis Premier.

Yearlings heading to Inglis Premier in 2015 have had the benefit of enjoying the spring in the paddocks and are now beginning their sale preparations.

Stallions that have the propensity to beget sprinters, milers, middle-distance gallopers and stayers, will again be showcased at Inglis Premier.

Blue Diamond winner Reward For Effort has 29 yearlings in the 2015 Sale. Snitzerland’s sire Snitzel has 24 yearlings catalogued, while fellow sprinters Wanted (24 lots), Star Witness (21), Equiano (20), Bel Esprit (19), Choisir (17), Not A Single Doubt (13), Exceed And Excel (11), Northern Meteor (11), Testa Rossa (11), Stratum (10) and Turffontein (10) are all well represented.

Stallions proven to be able to produce stakes winning juveniles as well as Oaks and Derby winners include Sebring with 21 yearlings and Fastnet Rock with 19.

The Blue Riband Session, introduced to highlight potential Classic performers, will feature yearlings by High Chaparral, Savabeel, New Approach, Reset, Redoute’s Choice, Street Cry and O’Reilly.

22 First Season Sires will be represented, headed numerically by Group 1 winning 2 & 3 year-old Helmet (32), as well as Smart Missile (25), Foxwedge (19), Master Of Design (19), Canford Cliffs (18), So You Think (18), Toorak Toff (18), Sepoy (13).

Australia’s leading consignors have again strongly supported the sale. Swettenham will present the largest draft with 50 yearlings whilst Rosemont have 44, Eliza (41), Blue Gum (30), Phoenix (29), Arrowfield (25), Yallambee (24), Three Bridges (21), Newgate (19), Erinvale (19) and Supreme Thoroughbreds (19).
