GRADE 2 WILGERBOSFRIFT GAUTENG FILLIES: Sean Tarry dominates Fillies Guineas result
The Sean Tarry yard dominated the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift Fillies Guineas when the conditioner finished first, second and fourth.
The race was run in gentle drizzle. There couldn't have been a cleaner start to the race and the speed was on right from the start. The fourth Sean Tarry runner in the race, BICHETTE was the first to show in a fast run race. Early on in the race the favourite and KZN raider, SAME JURISDICTION was taken up for a stride or two. This may have cost him the win, but that is not at all certain as the winner SIREN'S CALL was full value for her win.
SMART CALL took over the lead at the 1000m mark from PINE PRINCESS, KWINTA and SIREN'S CALL. The field became strung out into the home straight.
There was a mad dash for the line. SIREN'S CALL was making good progress and even though she was challenged close to the line by stable companion TROPHY WIFE who was throwing everything but the kitchen sink at her. It was an impressive win by the daughter of Elusive Fort and watching her run she is certain to go even further. The runner up TROPHY WIFE was gallant in defeat. SAME JURISDICTION did get going late but had too much ground to make up and one could perhaps ignore this run as she does have the class and will be heard from again in the not too distant future.
SMART CALL ran a good race and stayed on well for third from a fast finishing TAMANEE.
