Grade 3 ENGLEZAKIS PROTEA STAKES for 2 year-olds - BAAHIR to look to remaining unbeaten after two runs

  Race-4 (Turf) R 200 000 1100m 14:20 Ref-886 - Grade 3 ENGLEZAKIS PROTEA STAKES for 2 year-olds - BAAHIR to look to remaining unbeaten after two runs

Trainer Mike De Kock trains the Australian bred, BAAHIR, the two-year-old son of GALILEO. He made his debut last month at Scottsville and recorded an impressive win by three lengths that day. He showed good pace throughout and drew off early at the end. He did not beat much that day but the manner in which he won and there was no more that he could have done about that, makes him a solid selection for the second feature on today's exciting card.

Dominic Zaki's two-year-old, ARABIAN BEAT was also an impressive winner on debut last time, cruising in by four lengths. On that run he should go close in a race such as this. This race may not be as clear cut as that as there will be horses that would have come along well after a few runs.

Justin Snaith comes from Cape Town to saddle up two horses, BUCKINGHAMPSHIRE and READYTOGORIGHTNOW in the ninth. BUCKINGHAMPSHIRE won his maiden at the second attempt on J & B Met Day when producing an excellent finish to win going away by over a length. He has much scope and he would not have come all this way to get defeated. Expect a good run from this two-year-old son of LONHRO.

FROSTED HONEY made a winning debut last time. Running in the same colours as PYLON, Mike De Kock's runner at Dubai this evening, he could be the "dark horse" of the race. Mike Azzie has done very well with his two-year-olds and expect to see him somewhere in the firing line.

SLINKY JACK from the Alec Laird yard won his maiden on debut by three lengths and is another that could be hard to assess.

1st - BAAHIR (2); 2nd - ARABIAN BEAT (1); 3rd - BUCKINGHAMPSHIRE (3); 4th - FORESTED HONEY (9); 5th - SLINKY JACK (8)
