Grade 1 WILGERBOSDRIFT S A FILLIES CLASSIC For 3 year-old Fillies (2nd Leg of SA Triple Tiara) - Great gutsy win by SIREN'S CALL
The three year old filly, SIREN'S CALL, trained by Sean Tarry, showed great guts and heart when wuinning the WILGERBOSDRIFT S A FILLIES CLASSIC (2nd Leg of SA Triple Tiara). It si not the first time that she has won a race that she never looked like winning. Without taking anything away from SIREN'S CALL, it has to be said that jockey Piere Strydom got the best out of this filly. It must also be said that Anton Marcus and SAME JURISDICTION did nothing wrong and had the race won, except at the line.
The alarm bells must have been ringing at the four hundred metre mark as she had a wall of horses to get through. This win puts her earnings well beyond the R2 million mark.
SMART CALL was the first to show from BANBURY, ESTIDRAAJ and SAME JUSRISDICTION who was perfectly placed throughout the race. The pace was not the fastest of the day but it picked up in the latter stages.
At the top of the straight SAME JURISDICTION moved up behind SMART CALL who was beginning to fall back in the field. With four hundred metres left to go SAME JURISDICTION looked the winner but SIREN'S CALL was finding an excellent finish and even with 100m to go did not look as though she was going to win. The rest is now history. This has to be the race of the day, at this stage.
TROPHY WIFE was not disgraced back in third while PINE PRINCESS, after a sluggish start, produced a very good finish and should be watched.
