SPOOK EXPRESS HANDICAP (Listed) - WILD ASH fights it out with and beats ERIN
The fourth Australian bred won at Turffontein this afternoon when WILD ASH beat market rival, ERIN, in an exciting finish to the second feature on the day. There was a good break to this race as all the runners broke well.
THE CENTENARY led the race for most of the lengthy journey at a moderate pace and was hard held by her jockey. Trailing THE CENTENARY was RODEO SIOUX, WILD ASH and ERIN. The order was pretty much the same throughout the race. LUALA moved up down the back straight but never went on with the effort.
THE CENTENARY led by around 1½ lengths with 1000m to go and extended that in to the home straight. RODEO SIOUX remained in contention but it was evident that t5he two were going to fight this one out were WILD ASH and ERIN. These two fought it out 300m out. WILD ASH prevailed for Geoff Woodruff with Anton Marcus aboard. Both TOUCH THE SKY and EVA TIBBS found good finishes to finish third and fourth respectively.
