KOREA RACING AUTHORITY FILLIES GUINEAS (Grade 2) - ALEXIS powers home from the clouds to win
The start to the official KZN Winter Season produced an electrifying finish from the three year old daughter of DYNASTY, ALEXIS to win the Grade 2 Fillies Guineas at Greyville. The second favourite, REAL PRINCESS did not get the best of starts and found herself four lengths back shortly after the start. Unfortunately for her supporters she never recovered and finished way back. That run is best ignored.
The race was a match between the horses from Cape Town and Johannesburg. Interestingly there was only one Durban horse in the eleven horse field. The Mike De Kock trained ATAAB raced in her usual position, at the front. CATHY SPECIFIC followed her for the most part around a length back. ZANTE was next best along with JUST LUCKY. The pace was on throughout. INARA was never too far off them along with TROPHY WIFE with the eventual winner, ALEXIS, content to race behind them.
The order never changed at the front with the same four horses leading them into the home straight. INARA was the first to challenge. Just when it looked as though INARA was going to win, ALEXIS, the Brett Crawford runner literally came from the clouds to win going away. This was her fourth win from eight starts. She had run last time at this track when she finished well to run third in a small feature. She has now won just short of R400 000 in stake money. INARA was not disgraced in second and she will win her fair share of group races. ATAAB stayed on well for third while ONE FINE DAY also found a good finish late on.
