TSOGO SUN SPRINT (Grade 1) - The Captain reigns as All left in his wake

Trainer Dennis Drier won his second Grade 1 of the day for the Ingrid Jooste and Markus Jooste ownership when the classy CAPTAIN OF ALL won a good contest over 1200m at Scottsville in the fourth and final Grade 1 on the day. The difference between this winner and SEVENTH PLAIN was that Sean Cormack rode the winner.

The start was delayed when a number of the fancied horses were withdrawn from the starting stalls prior to the race due to restlessness. Among them was the joint favourite, WILLOW MAGIC, who was expected to run a huge race.

When they were finally released from the starting stalls, FLY FIRST CLASS was the first to show from BICHETTE, the horse voted as the best turned out, GULF STORM and WILLOW MAGIC. The eventual winner CAPTAIN OF ALL was tucked in behind them. The order never changed for the first three quarters of the race. CHEKILLI had to be pulled out of the race at the midway stage of the race.

With 300m to go CAPTAIN OF ALL moved up well to take the lead and ran on well to win more comfortably than the margin may suggest. The Cape Town trainers, by their standards, had a quiet day. Brett Crawford did finish second however with GULF STORM. There was massive improvement by SHEIK'S BRASHEE, who finished well to run third, just ahead of BICHETTE.

The win, his sixth from eleven starts, has pushed CAPTAIN OF ALL'S winning well beyond R1,700 000. This was surely an impressive win as he had to give away so much weight.
