UPDATED JOCKEY STANDINGS: Up to Race 5 Vaal (Tuesday, 30 June 2015) Gavin Lerena 196 Vs S'Manga Khumalo 183 with one month left!
S'Manga Khumalo rides at Durbanville this afternoon.
RACE 1:
Watch the betting on the first timers. CAPTAIN COURTEOUS, son of CAPTAIN AL, cost R700 000 while his stable companion, SALINGER, cost R600 000. S'Manga Khumalo rides the former and Richard Fourie the latter, both for Justin Snaith. AL DANGEUR showed good improvement in his second run last time when staying on. ROMAN DESCENT has had two decent runs. Looks likely to improve.. VIGILANTE makes his debut. Will have some improving to do to win.
1st - CAPTAIN COURTEOUS (5); 2nd - SALINGER (11); 3rd - AL DANGEUR (1); 4th - ROMAN DESCENT (10); 5th - VIGILANTE (12)
RACE 2:
LITTLE CHAPEL ran her best race in three last time when running on for a good third. Big chance if repeating. CHISANYAMA could well have won last time had she kept on a straight course. Chance to make amends. LOVELY RITA can improve on a moderate debut last time. DICTATE, is a daughter of SILVANO, making her debut. Keep an eye on the betting. S'Manga Khumalo rides for Justin Snaith. Stable companion, AETHER would be a shock winner on form.
1st - LITTLE CHAPEL (6); 2nd - CHISANYAMA (3); 3rd - LOVELY RITA (7); 4th - DICTATE (4); 5th - AETHER (1)
RACE 3:
RAVISHING LAD has very good form and ran on late last time. Chance on that run. MISTER MAJESTIC is a two year old making his debut. Watch the betting on him and all other first timers. IMPERIAL GUARD should be better over the 1400m this afternoon.. Ignore latest effort. Q SCHOOL failed to hold on over the same distance last time. Runs well at this track though. MR WISE GUY was not supported on debut last time. Two year old who is a son of VISIONAIRE and should improve with that run under his belt.

RACE 4:
FRATERNIZE is one of many first timers in this race. She is a two year old daughter of HORSE CHESTNUT. Surprisingly she cost only R80 000. NEOMA is another two year old first timer and daughter of THOMAS CROWN. CAPRICE DES DIEUX did not show last time when racing over this distance for the first time. Give another chance. Expensive to follow. GOOFED is clearly improving but has something to find to win. MY CELEBRATION is another who could improve further.
1st - FRATERNIZE (6); 2nd - NEOMA (7); 3rd - CAPRICE DES DIEUX (1); 4th - GOOFED (4); 5th - MY CELEBRATION (5)
RACE 5:
EXCLUSIVE KNIGHT is a close finisher and has the form to win, that is if he finds a decent finish. This will be his quarter of a century in terms of runs and has earned in over 50% of them. He just needs a few finishing touches. NATURAL BEAUTY almost held on with a masterful ride by jockey Bernard Fayd'Herbe. An apprentice claim should help this afternoon if adopting the same tactics. GULL ROCK looks ready to improve. S'Manga Khumalo has the ride. RIVER BLAZE should earn something. CHIEF PILOT also needs a bigger final effort.

RACE 6:
SHEPHERDS PURSE could cause the upset this afternoon. he has been finding a good finish late on and looks to be good value at 16/1. One of his two wins was at this track and he has also run well this C & D. OLIM DIVES disappointed last time but has S'Manga Khumalo aboard this afternoon. Needs to be ridden in a handy position. BLUE EYED BOY ran a good post maiden last time despite a slow start. Has run on in all three starts to date. IMPRESSIONIST needs a stronger finish. LANE FROST is never far back. Also needs a more sustained finish.
1st - SHEPHERDS PURSE (10); 2nd - OLIM DIVES (13); 3rd - BLUE EYED BOY (4); 4th - IMPRESSIONIST (8); 5th - LANE FROST (14)
RACE 7:
WAITING FOR RAIN has good form. Last time he ran a cracker in far stronger company and looks to have the ability to win at this level this afternoon. Has won at this track and should be running on well at the end. BLACKMORE ran on well to win against weaker last time. That was an impressive win. Can repeat. MOONLIGHT RUNNER has some very good post maiden form but weakens very late. Has had two seconds this C & D from two starts this C & D. UNCLE JIM has won three from seven starts. Do not ignore. LINE BREAK should benefit from a drop in class despite the 62kg he has to carry. Good form to assist as well.

RACE 8:
TIGERESS DANCE has won three time. All three runs have been at this track. Strong chance if she runs on again, as she has done in her last three starts. WITCHERY will need to find a better finish although her supporters could be influenced by her improved latest run. EMERALD ROSE had good maiden form before her maiden victory at the fourth attempt last time. Not only did she win last time but she won by half a dozen lengths. May not need to confirm on that effort. STUDY THE STARS is never far back and usually runs on. HILLARY has won her two wins over shorter. The extra should not be a problem.
