PREVIEW: GREYVILLE (POLYTRACK) - 4 AUGUST 2015
RACE 1:
The Gauteng form of EMERALD MACKAY may be too strong for the local horses in this race. Was an unlucky loser last time. ETERNAL ICE showed good improvement in his second start last time. FIRST SEA LORD has some fair form and should be running on. COPPER'S PRIDE gave a hint last time that he could be improving. SEATTLE WOLF makes his debut. Could be worth following.
1st - EMERALD MACKAY (1); 2nd - ETERNAL ICE (7); 3rd - FIRST SEA LORD (2); 4th - COPPER'S PRIDE (5); 5th - SEATTLE WOLF (12)
RACE 2:
GOODNIGHT SEATTLE found a very good late finish last time. Has a good chance on that run. SU-PA-SUTA ran her best race in nine last time by some way. Has yet to receive any betting support but that could be different today. WINTER ROSE has very little to show but fancy trainer and jockey form. PRINCESS VARUNYA has very little to recommend on debut run last time but could improve to place. TOPAZ RAIN has had a few decent runs but needs to find more at the finish.
1st - GOODNIGHT SEATTLE (1); 2nd - SU-PA-SUTA (3); 3rd - WINTER ROSE (7); 4th - PRINCESS VARUNYA (11); 5th - TOPAZ RAIN (2)
RACE 3:
DARK ROSE is the form horse in the race with two seconds and four thirds from eight starts. Will be finding more at the finish. She is never too far back at the line and looks set to win her maiden soon. TREVI FOUNTAIN makes her debut. One to watch. ELEPHANT MATRIARCH has had two steady runs and is likely to improve further. KINGSVIEW has picked up her game in the last two but weakens late. TAFETA is a VISIONAIRE first timer.
1st - DARK ROSE (2); 2nd - TREVI FOUNTAIN (11); 3rd - ELEPHANT MATRIARCH (8); 4th - KINGSVIEW (1); 5th - TAFETA (10)
RACE 4:
DRACO raids from PE. Has his problems but could so something in this field. He has a mind of his own. CAPTAIN KING is never too far back. Weakens but should benefit by having an apprentice claiming the 4kg. SHOSHONE has been threatening to win his maiden but has disappointed. LONG WALK has been improving. Could go close if running on again. TANIE could be the big improver in this race. One to keep an eye on and one to also respect is ASHANTEE, the Gauteng raider.
1st - DRACO (6); 2nd - CAPTAIN KING (3); 3rd - SHOSHONE (2); 4th - LONG WALK (4); 5th - TANIE (10)
RACE 5:
PORTELINHA SAMBA made a winning debut this C & D last time. He lost a length at the start that day and watch for more improvement. OUT MY WAY can go close on his penultimate run when running on well at the end. Largely inconsistent. ANGEL'S POWER won on debut at Turffontein last time. May need to confirm but what has been evident lately is that horses from Gauteng have stronger form. CRYSTAL CLUSTER showed excellent improvement when winning her maiden at the second attempt last time. MR PRESIDENT may do something if confirming improvement shown last time.
1st - PORTELINHA SAMBA (5); 2nd - OUT MY WAY (2); 3rd - ANGEL'S POWER (3); 4th - CRYSTAL CLUSTER (7); 5th - MR PRESIDENT (9)
RACE 6:
SPRITZER has improved on his Gauteng form since racing in KZN. Has gone very close in his last two. Looks to be the one to beat. TOLD YOU SO has been holding form well but hampers his own chances by losing ground badly at the start. SARGEANT TIBBS needs a stronger finish. RACING SOCKS has fair Gauteng form but that could be stronger than it looks on paper. LEBEOANA has won this C & D and is never too far back.
1st - SPRITZER (10); 2nd - TOLD YOU SO (2); 3rd - SERGEANT TIBBS (11); 4th - RACING SOCKS (5); 5th - LEBEOANA (4)
RACE 7:
KLONDIKE RIVER has been improving in Gauteng. Has had one decent run in KZN at this track before and yard picked up two winners at this track on Sunday. NOTTINGHAM FOREST has been improving slowly. May just improve further this afternoon. FANTASY ART could be coming back to form. QUEEN'S ADVANCE won well when racing over this distance for the first time last time. REBEL'S RANSOM has his excuses for latest effort. Otherwise good improvement in KZN.
1st - KLONDIKE RIVER (10); 2nd - NOTTINGHAM FOREST (12); 3rd - FANTASY ART (7); 4th - QUEEN'S ADVANCE (2); 5th - REBEL'S RANSOM (6)
RACE 8:
SUTHERFENI drops in class and has an apprentice claiming 4kg. Ran well last time against stronger as well. VIVARANI will be running on and has decent PE form. QUINTELLA has won only once in sixty three races. Could be worth including in the exotics as she could place. Best runs and only win has been over the distance. CHENNAI BABE has some decent recent form. Improved in KZN. JIVE SESSION ran a good post maiden last time. Money chance.
