Craig Zackey to contest Asian Young Guns

South African Champion Apprentice Craig Zackey will be jetting off to Seoul, Korea at the end of the month to contest the 7th Edition of the Asian Racing Federation’s Asian Young Guns Challenge being hosted this year by the Korea Racing Authority at Seoul Racecourse on Saturday 29th August.
Zackey, who will be under the guidance of South African Jockey Academy Riding Master Stephen Jupp, said he was humbled to be chosen to represent South Africa for the second time in the Challenge and was looking forward to mounting another challenge for the title.
“I was fortunate to represent South Africa at the Asian Young Guns Challenge and the Macau Apprentice Jockey International Races in 2014, both were great learning experiences and I will use the experience I gained at both of these competitions to good use in Korea and try my best ” Zackey said.
This year’s Asian Young Guns Challenge will be conducted as a four race series and Zackey will be competing against ten other leading apprentice jockeys from Australia, Hong Kong, Japan (JRA/NAR), Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and hosts Korea. All competitors will not be eligible for an allowance, and the Champion will be decided by a points system.
The fifth-year apprentice is in scintillating form, collecting 58 wins for the 2014/15 season, including Grade 1 and 2 victories, which saw him, lift the Apprentice Championship! He is riding with a lot of confidence and will once again represent his country proudly in international competition.
