RISKY ROCKEFELLER WINS ON SINGAPORE DEBUT

Ridden by Corey Brown, Risky Rockefeller, was well backed on Sunday to start off as the second favourite ($24) after Dylan ($16).

Risky Rockefeller jumped well, but it was from the top of the straight that things got interesting. As the pack straightened up, the lead was shared amongst a trio made up of Super Joy (Oscar Chavez), Dragon Bobo (Nooresh Juglall) and Kevin Eleven (Zuriman Zulkifli).

Risky Rockefeller only got into the act in the final 100m when, collared by Dylan (Michael Rodd), he dug deep to outsprint his late challenger and hold his position stoutly to post the win by a neck from Dylan with  Dragon Bobo third a further two-and-a-quarter lengths away.

Brown felt more was to come from Risky Rockefeller when he gets more races under his belt.

“He is still very new and doesn’t really know what to do at times,” said Brown.

“He was freaking out in the enclosure. And when I got him in front towards the end, he looked unsure of himself when he could have pulled further by a length or two.

“This horse still has more in him. He can go on further for sure.”

Burridge was not surprised by the win, saying the Australian-bred galloper came with decent enough credentials to warrant optimism.

“His racing manager Steve Levar (Stars & Stripes Stable) gave me this horse to train,” said Burridge.

“He had only two starts in Australia so he is still a little green. But he has shown he has potential.

“I will give him a month’s rest to get over the race. But he can go over further. That’s for sure.”
