PREVIEW: VAAL (SAND) - 29 AUGUST 2015
|
PREVIEW: VAAL (SAND) - 29 AUGUST 2015
RACE 1:
KING OF CLOTH ran on well in an improved run last time but just failed to win in the latter stages. MUSICAL ROMANCE raced green on debut last time but looked promising. FIRST SIGN is never far back but last two runs were in Kimberley. HADDINGTON makes his debut. ISLAND EXPRESS will need a better finish.
1st - KING OF CLOTH (2); 2nd - MUSICAL ROMANCE (16); 3rd - FIRST SIGN (1); 4th - HADDINGTON (14); 5th - ISLAND EXPRESS (9)
RACE 2:
GINGER SIOUX made up ground late after a slow start last time. That was her best run in nineteen. One to be serious contender. SUSQUEHANNA sis still improving. Needs to find more late. OBLIVION could place if repeating penultimate run. UNDERFIRE has not form to win but can still earn. GRACIE GOLD will also be a shock winner.
1st - GINGER SIOUX (1); 2nd - SUSQUEHANNA (2); 3rd - OBLIVION (4); 4th - UNDERFIRE (6); 5th - GRACIE GOLD (5)
RACE 3:
SPANISH KISS made a very good debut run on the turf last time. Looks to be the one to beat if taking to this surface. MYSTIFY ME showed good improvement in her second start last time. Include. WINTER BREEZE makes her debut. Piere Strydom rides. STUNNING ANGEL is never too far back. Cannot be ignored.
1st - SPANISH KISS (11); 2nd - MYSTIFY ME (9); 3rd - THE BERRY LADY (12); 4th - WINTER BREEZE (14); 5th - STUNNING ANGEL (1)
RACE 4:
SIR PRICE takes on stronger but won a very good maiden last time. Can surprise if confirming that run. SWEET PAINTED LADY ran two decent runs before winning her maiden last time. Can follow up. JUST AFRICA has shown very little since winning her maiden four runs back. LA STRADA did not show in a Grade 1 at Greyville last time. Better than that run. DRAGON LI has had two good post maiden runs but needs a better finish.
1st - SIR PRICE (2); 2nd - SWEET PAINTED LADY (9); 3rd - JUST AFRICA (7); 4th - LA STRADA (8); 5th - DRAGON LI (6)
RACE 5:
SHINE TIGER won well this C & D last time against a similar field. Can win again. PROUD AS PUNCH generally runs well and has placed well this C & D. TUTTA MAGEE is inconsistent but has won two from three starts at this track. CHIEF SIOUX will have a chance if repeating penultimate run over slightly shorter. FOREST VIEW has been threatening to improve.
1st - SHINE TIGER (2); 2nd - PROUD AS PUNCH (7); 3rd - TUTTA MAGEE (3); 4th - CHIEF SIOUX (4); 5th - FOREST VIEW (8)
RACE 6:
S'WAY won well last time. Three of her four wins have been this C & D. The way in which she won last time suggests she could win again this afternoon. CELTIC LEGEND won her last two very easily, latest of which was this C & D. ROYAL TRIP has been improving but appears to have developed breathing issues. USISI won her last three starts. In great form but appears to prefer the 1000m trip. Consider all the same. FLAME CAT ran a much improved race last time. Also has breathing problems.
1st - S'WAY (10); 2nd - CELTIC LEGEND (5); 3rd - ROYAL TRIP (2); 4th - USISI (4); 5th - FLAME CAT (3)
RACE 7: WORLD SPORTS BETTING AUGUST STAKES (Grade 3) - The back in form CAPTAIN HADDOCK to beat competitive field
The seven year old CAPTAIN HADDOCK won his warm up run this C & D just over two weeks ago when winning almost from start to finish. That was an impressive run and he could do pretty much the same again this afternoon. Jockey Andrew Fortune rode him for the first time last time climbs aboard again this afternoon. He loves this C & D where he has won twice and placed twice in five attempts over this C & D. He will have some useful sorts to battle against in this race and it won't be as easy as last time.
MOOTAHADEE shows a distinct liking for this track and is unbeaten this C & D (2 from 2). Jockey Anthony Delpech has made the journey from Durban to ride him and for the Mike De Kock yard this afternoon. He usually races up there near the front.
DOING IT FOR DAN takes on slightly stronger but won his last two in impressive style. Piere Strydom who piloted him to victory in his last two will be looking to record the hat trick. The partnership has brought five wins from eight starts. He finished well over slightly shorter.
OLYMPIC BOLT is a reserve runner. This Mike De Kock trained horse could earn something if given the chance ti run. Has had all three wins at this track.
ROMAN CARNIVAL is still improving. Looks to be out at the weights but can find himself at the back end of the quartets.
1st - CAPTAIN HADDOCK (8); 2nd - MOOTAHADEE (7); 3rd - DOING IT FOR DAN (4); 4th - OLYMPIC BOLT (13); 5th - ROMAN CARNIVAL (12)
RACE 8:
RIVER RUN has steady form but in her last two found good finishes on turf. She has only run once on sand and finished a moderate fourth. SHAMAL has been a little off form in her last two but she did have an excuse last time as she was bumped at the start. YAWAYLA ALAYLA won her maiden very easily at the third attempt last time. May need to confirm that run. DALALAAT has been trying hard and has the ability to place at least. MADAM ALEXIS has not shown in her two post maiden runs.
1st - RIVER RUN (7); 2nd - SHAMAL (2); 3rd - YAWAYLA ALAYLA (4); 4th - DALALAAT (1); 5th - MADAM ALEXIS (5)
RACE 9:
ANGEL GABRIEL could be coming back to best form. He is not too consistent but follow as he looks to be set to run well this afternoon. ARABIAN WORLD has been holding form well but makes his sand debut. FORMAL REQUEST caused a huge upset last time when winning comfortable when starting at 20/1. LIMBO must have his last run ignored. Is better than that effort. COOL KID may have a small chance on an improved penultimate run.
1st - ANGEL GABRIEL (7); 2nd - ARABIAN WORLD (2); 3rd - FORMAL REQUEST (6); 4th - LIMBO (5); 5th - COOL KID (4)
