Dettori likely for Danzeno Haydock ride

Trainer Mick Appleby is in bullish mood after confirming Frankie Dettori is "99 per cent certain" to ride Danzeno in Saturday's Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock.

The popular Italian partnered the four-year-old for the first time on his Group One debut in the July Cup, with Danzeno recovering from a tardy start to finish an excellent fifth behind Muhaarar.

Appleby believes if his stable star breaks on terms on Merseyside this weekend, he will be a tough nut to crack.

"Frankie says he is 99 per cent certain he can take the ride on Saturday, which is great," said the trainer.

"Looking at the race, if he can jump out well, I think he'll take a lot of beating. If the jockey can get him out and keep him straight, I think he'll win.

"He was unlucky at Newmarket as he missed the break and it was the same at Newcastle the time before.

"He's in great form and I just hope they don'y get any more rain, that would be my only concern.

"He'll be all right on good to soft, but if it went soft or heavy he wouldn't run."
