The Mike Bass trained four year old filly and daughter of TRIPPI, INARA, showed too much class in this year's running of the Diana Stakes at Durbanville on Saturday. Another small field was quickly loaded. The eight runners broke well except for SENSIBLE LOVER who was slow to break the line.
There was a good pace in this race in which INARA'S stable companion, COME FLY WITH ME, ensured that the gallop was a swift one. The first to show was FEAR NOT from COME FLY WITH ME and INARA, who was handily placed throughout. COME FLY WITH ME took the lead a long way out but had INARA to stave off. INARA was always going the better and she won comfortably without really being extended.She was another very short odds on favourite to arrive in the day's two feature races. Like ACT OF WAR, INARA should have a successful campaign in Cape Town this summer. She has already won two Grade 1 races in her thirteen starts. This was her fifth win and her stakes stand just over the R1.9 million.
