There was another exciting to a feature race at Turffontein this afternoon.
They all, except for LONDON, broke well at the 1600m mark. BICHETTE was the first to show from SMART CALL. These two kept each other company throughout the race with SMART CALL overtaking BICHETTE at the 200m mark. Weichong Marwing produced the Alec Laird trained SMART CALL at the right time. As the made their way around the turn into the straight, BICHETTE fought with her jockey and this could have taken its toll late on. There was no pace in this small field. CELTIC LEGEND found herself racing handily in the early stages along with LOVE TO SAIL and TROPHY WIFE.
One must not take anything away from SMART CALL who had visited the number one box in a Grade 1 when she won the Woolavington at Greyville six months ago.
The win, her fourth from thirteen starts pushes her earnings to just over R1.3 million.
LONDON finished well to get the better of the well fancied TROPHY WIFE.
