Green Street Bloodstock offers ownership options

JUSTIN Vermaak’s Green Street Bloodstock is making racehorse ownership accessible to entry-level patrons as well as finding the right buys for more established owners.
GSB purchased the well-performed Jet Master gelding Master’s Sprit (4 wins from 13 starts), for what could prove to be a bargain R200,000 at last week’s Super Sale, during which a number of Sheikh Hamdan of Dubai’s runners in training went through the auction ring.

Master’s Spirit will return to trainer Mike de Kock, who said: “I’m glad to keep him in the yard, he’s improved after being gelded and looks very effective on the Polytrack.”
GSB last week also offered a “Lease Package” on two yearlings who are about to go into training. At a buy-in of just R1250, new patrons could acquire a 10% share of both yearlings, followed by a monthly fee of only R1,250 to keep both in training.
“Needless to say we expected a good response to the Lease Package, but to have the shares sold out within three hours of being advertised was very encouraging,” commented Vermaak. “It shows that there are any number of individuals out there who are keen to get involved and this is essential for the growth of racing."

Runners in GSB silks have made a habit of getting third places in recent weeks, with no less than eight thirds from 15 runners posted at various tracks, the latest a third by Miss Malbec to highly rated Smokey Affair at Kenilworth last Tuesday.
“We expect the tide to turn soon, we have several runners coming up who can win their next stats including Last Outlaw, Promising Prospect and Beaute Noir,” Vermaak said.
With a wide variety of shares having been sold recently, only a few options remain in GSB Syndicates at the moment, including the good-looking Sail From Seattle filly Coral Queen (see photo), a graduate of Ascot Stud sold at the National Yearling Sale.

“We have 25% left of Coral Queen, she is a strong, well-balanced and well-related filly,” Vermaak said.
