Last season’s South African Champion Sire Trippi is a really exciting young broodmare sire.
Already damsire of dual Gr1 winner and Kentucky sire Liam’s Map (Unbridled’s Song), Trippi also features as the broodmare sire of an exceptionally exciting two-year-old filly in North America.

Undefeated Into Mischief filly Miss Sunset (who is out of the Trippi mare Tuscan Sunset) made it two wins from as many outings when romping to victory in Saturday’s Generous Portion Stakes at Del Mar.

Miss Sunset, who had won on debut by four and three quarter lengths, has now won her first two races by an aggregate of ten lengths and looks an exciting prospect and potential Graded stakes contender.

She hooked up with I’ll Be Around from the very beginning of the six-furlong Generous Portion Stakes, loping along under a hold from jockey Fernando Perez while saving ground on the rail. The Into Mischief filly slid up to take over on the backstretch and held firm control upon hitting the stretch.

Perez showed Miss Sunset the whip once when How About Zero rallied rounding the turn, and the bay lass took off to win under wraps for trainer Jeff Bonde, who commented he didn’t think “she has distance limitations.”

Miss Sunset drew clear to record a five and a quarter length win at the expense of How About Zero (Square Eddie), with third place finisher Rocketann (Sierra Sunset) another five and a half lengths away.

The winner could be aimed at the Gr1 Chandelier Stakes, set to take place at Santa Anita Park on October 1st.

Liam’s Map, the best horse (to date) produced by a daughter of Trippi, was an exceptional racehorse. The son of Unbridled’s Song won six of eight outings, with his career highlights including a four and a three quarter length romp in the 2015 Gr1 Woodward Stakes and a 2.75 length stroll in the Gr1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile of the same year.
