TAB, in conjunction with horseracing television channel Tellytrack, is to expand the betting opportunities offered to digital and telephone customers and from next month will operate pools on horseracing from 6am to midnight Wednesday to Saturday every week.

All pools during the extended trading hours will be on international racing and will be commingled with host totes, while Tellytrack will provide live coverage of the racing action. It’s intended to offer races every 10 to 15 minutes during the extended trading hours.

All betting pools in the 6am to 10am timeframe and from 10pm to midnight will be commingled with host totes. Business will be as normal from 10am to 10pm with a combination of local and internationally commingled pools.

TAB’s new trading hours, which kick in on 1 November, will be as follows:

* Monday: 10am to 10pm (unchanged)

* Tuesday: 6am to 10pm

* Wednesday to Saturday: 6am to midnight

* Sunday: 6am to 10pm

Online betting on PCs, tablets and mobiles will be offered throughout the extended trading hours. The operating hours of TAB branches will remain unchanged, while telephone betting will be offered from 9am to 10pm. For major international events like Breeders’ Cup and the Melbourne Cup telephone betting will stay open for longer.

It should be noted that the times above are approximate and are dependent on the availability of international product. Inevitably racing and betting will close earlier than scheduled on some evenings.
