"Superman" Anton Marcus is without a shadow of any doubt whatsoever, one of the best jockeys South African horseracing has ever seen. Having ridden four July winners; Dancing Duel (1993) El Picha (2000) Dunford (2005) and Hunting Tower (2007) as well as a pair of Met winners; his first coming aboard the great racemare Empress Club (1993) followed by Hill Fifty Four (2014) you'd think Anton would be satisfied, but this legend of the game proved that he is still as hungry as ever when  adding two more Group 1 victories to his ultra impressive resume on the second day of the L'Ormarins Queens Plate festival.

Anton opened his account by riding the gorgeous grey filly Bela - Bela to victory in an absolute humdinger to land the Grade 1 Main Chance Farms Paddock Stakes. His mount in the very next race, was by far his most important, and the pair duely obliged as Legal Eagle cruised clear to win the Grade 1 L'Ormarins Queens Plate as he liked. Marcus did not stop their as he guided Supercilious and Elusive Path to victory in the 9th and 10th races respectively.

Anton Marcus is a veteran in the saddle, he has ridden at the highest level for the best part of two decades, and he seems to be only getting better as the years go by!
